No chance Ottawa does that. Age, term, and position make Stutzle clearly more valuable

That would be like Ottawa offering Batherson and Brannstrom for Matthews and Liljegren.

Stu has more value than Marner, OTT does not need a overpaid winger who wants more money on his next deal, hell OTT would not do Stu for Mathews 1 for 1, Stu will end up better than both marner or mathews

I think all were in agreement that no reason for SENs to do this and then you go and ruin it with a totally homer take🤦🏻. SENs fans can’t even win the easy ones

I agree with you that this isn't the same because Marner is obviously far better than Batherson but my point was the "hell no" you were thinking when you saw it is the same response we have to any Stutzle trade that doesn't involve Connor McDavid.

SENs fans are getting goofy; reminds me of last year (our top 6 is better than Leafs top 6 😅)… when they crash & burn and miss’s playoffs this year will be even sweeter 😎

A centre signed for 8 years over a winger getting paid 3 mill more with only 2 years left on his deal

It's funny to think that Marner is going to want a raise in two years.

Marner is a top 20, borderline top 10, player in the league. The whole winger vs centre argument is over played - every team in the league would take Marner, Kucherov, Kiprizof, Rantanen, Tkatchuk. In 2 years when Marner’s deal is up cap will have increased significantly- $12M seems fair for 100point, selke finalist that is a top 3 playmaker.

Marner should have Draisaitl's contract and Draisaitl should have Marner's contract.

Never liked the fact he came out of his ELC and needed $10.9 million a season. What do you think this stuff does to your team?

Toronto ends up letting above average players like, Hyman, O'Reilly, and Schenn walk out the door for nothing. Guys that want to stay on your team, and you want them to stay on your team. Hyman makes $5.5 million a season, O'Reilly signed for $4.5 million a season, and Schenn received just under $3 million a season. All good signings. How does Toronto not make room for these guys?

I am a Marner fan too. Do I think he's worth what he's currently making? I don't like it now, and I didn't like it when he signed the deal. But, that's just my opinion.

Just a little reminder that Stutzle had more points than Matthews last year as a 21 year old. He was also 9 points back of Marner and a top 20 scorer league wide. He also played the PK ( On a Top 15 PK) which is something that Matthews doesn't do. So next time maybe look at some basic facts before slandering on opinions.

This is going to age like milk, especially cause arguably Stutzle was even better than Matthews last season. He will also be a much more cost effective center and had one of the best contracts in the league last year for points for dollar. His contract this year is also way under the going rate for a top 20 player in the league.

You sure about that, if you watched Stutzle you'd also know he has a realistic chance at 60 goals because of his elite wrister and elite hands along with the linemates that he had last year. He also had 1 less goal that Matthews last year. Granted that was in 4 more games, but the gap is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much smaller than you realize.

Wait you can't be serious.

Rationality doesn't tell you that this is not close at all? Look at both contracts, age, position, playstyle, etc.

Come again?

Ok but Stutzle just outscored Matthews in his 20-21 y/o season (January 15th birthday)

And he started the season at 20 y/o

19 y/o : 44 pts in 82 games (0.54 PPG)
20 y/o : 82 pts in 88 games (0.93 PPG)
21 y/o : 51 pts in 40 games (1.28 PPG)

Curious to see what it will look like for his 22 y/o year

Sick, Stuzle had 3 more points than Matthews, who was playing on 1 wrist BTW, had less goals and was way worse in terms of defence (90 point player being a -3 says a lot)

As for playing PK, McDabid and Draisatl play PK on a top 20 Pk in the league, doesn't mean they're good at defence... Matthews lead the League in blocked shots and is fr superior in face-offs
