Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Sidorov, Yegor [Reserve List]
  2. 2025 4th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
With Lundestrom out, Ducks get depth w/Lafferty, add a T4 D in Brodie, leaving about 14 million to sign Zegras and Drysdale to sign.
ANA
  1. Brodie, TJ
  2. Lafferty, Sam
Additional Details:
Leafs clear some cap, add a 4th and prospect.
2.
TOR
  1. Veleno, Joseph [RFA Rights]
  2. 2025 7th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Detroit's roster is filled leaving Veleno as the 13th forward and he is also currently unsigned. Veleno is still young, possess a strong shot, isn't scared of going into corners and play a physical style. Also a steady 2-way forward. As the 3C, Veleno could provide a heady 2-way game w/some offensive upside at cheap (20-30 points?)
DET
  1. Hirvonen, Roni
  2. 2024 7th round pick (OTT)
  3. 2025 5th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Red Wings receive B-C level prospects and later round picks
3.
TOR
  1. Murphy, Connor ($400,000 retained)
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (VAN)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (OTT)
  4. 2025 7th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Look at VGK, filled w/big D who can skate. Murphy is big (6'4), skates well, and managed to only be -10 on the god awful Hawks while playing nearly 20 mins a night. Leafs get him for the next 3 seasons on top of this.
CHI
  1. Järnkrok, Calle
  2. Timmins, Conor
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
  4. 2026 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Hawks acquire yet another first rounder, a decent middle six winger, and a young defenceman who has shown glimpses of becoming a solid offensive D
4.
TOR
  1. Määttä, Olli
Additional Details:
With Holl, Ghost, Chairot, Seider, and Walman, the Red Wings may consider moving someone out for Edvinsson to make a leap as a full time NHL'er.
DET
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (OTT)
  2. 2025 5th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Solid 5th or 5th D-man

Maata is bad. I'm all for acquiring Murphy. I'd rather keep Brodie and no maata. He's our best defender.

Whats the deal with sidorov that is some excellent scoring to be taken in the third round? Does he have some large flaw?

Edited to clarify: ahh he's an overager

Brodie doesn't waive to a non playoff west coast team, so that's this ends this post.

What a garbage take on Maata... he's a fantastic defender and makes everyone he's paired with better. His offensive numbers are never going to wow, but that's not what his role is. Detroit isn't trading him anyways, so it's irrelevant.

Chicago doesn't touch that. With retention, you can drop all the picks Chicago is sending and include Niemela going to Chicago

Detroit just resigned Maatta they need him so I wouldn't expect them to trade him. Plus he played really well last season at both ends of the ice. I'm not opposed to trading Veleno but he is a center and trading him for a winger who will be even further back on the depth chart doesn't make a lot of sense, but Detroit could use a RHD prospect like Niemelä.

I see where your coming from, but with 6 NHL caliber D, what's the plan with Edvinsson?

laugh Maatta is bad, He's a solid defensive defenseman that just put up 23 points on a very bad Red Wings team. He made Filip Hronek an even better defenseman this past season where he put up career numbers in points.. Maatta is a solid 2nd or bottom pairing LHD.

So Yzerman trades Joe Veleno for another small winger and lousy picks, Yeah Detroit easily passes on this one.

And we pass on the Maatta trade as well.

Hawks easily decline. No room for Jarnkrok in the lineup and Timmins is barely a 3rd pair NHL D man. No reason for Hawks to make this deal.

Honestly my bad. I remember when he was a great looking young defender his first purple seasons in Pittsburgh than ran into injury troubles and became kinda crappy and was sort of dumped. Hadn't followed him closely since and just assumed given the number of times he had moved since that he never refound his game. I see I am mistaken and he has refound his game as a defensive defenseman. Clearly I was wrong. My mistake. Cheers

That seems like a lot considering what we got McCabe for (with Lafferty). To be clear I actually wanted Murphy last year not McCabe but people told me I was nuts.

Anaheim passes, we aren’t trading our new 3rd round pick yet

We may do a 5th for Brodie though

He had shoulder surgery, so he's likely going to start the season on IR and then play in GR as long as possible. When he finally kicks the door in, I'd assume he'd supplant Chiarot.
