Your fellow Columbus fans are all going to say it's an overpay. Looks like a fair deal to me.

This would be a fair offer with an extension. Without an extension, you shouldn't give up Sillinger and likely high first.

You know what, Sillinger is not as good as I thought he was. I'll still say they decline, not because of value, but because they shouldn't sell low on Sillinger.

I wouldn't do this if I were CBJ unless there were concerns about Sillinger's potential.

I'm of the belief that Fantilli will be as productive on the offensive end as Lindholm (minus his outlier year last year with 40/40+) and be a 60 pt guy asap with a very high ceiling.

So, now you need two more good centers and you already have Jenner. So, does Lindholm make the team that much better? Maybe for a year but if Sillinger makes the leap, then it's a bad trade.

If you could get Lindholm for the first ++ and not include Sillinger or other top prospects, then for sure you have to go for it. Something like 2024 1st, 3rd, 2025 3rd Boqvist and Roslovic.

Sillinger is about where Boqvist was when Chicago made the trade for 1 full year of Seth Jones. Same situation IMO. Personally I would be mildly disappointed with this return

There have been 3 sign and trades in the NHL, why all of a sudden does a trade have to come with an extension?

Seth Jones came with an extension. This is the absolute most I would do for lindholm and even then I’m wary of trading for him. Would rather the jackets go after backlund for a cheaper price

No he didn't, he signed an extension after the trade

It doesn't, but Columbus would be extremely foolish to trade a top young player, a good defenseman, and a likely top 10 pick for less than a year of Lindholm.

Backlund would most likely not waive for CBJ

He was allowed to negotiate the extension before the trade was finalized. Seth came with the extension

Ok and why would Calgary not allow that?

Too risky for Cbus, even with an extension I'm not sure this is something the Jackets should do.

If Kekalainen thinks reuniting Johnny and Lindholm would make both players return to their 2022 form I could see him making the trade. He's seems to be in a hurry to get back to the playoffs.

CBJ just aren't a fit for Lindholm anymore. Suggested trade is an overpay because of how they value Sillinger. They're also not going to want to pay his next contract.

By the time CBJ are seriously trying to contend, Fantilli would be the 1C and Lindholm would be pushed down the lineup. No reason to give up on SIllinger yet when he still has the potential to play a similar role.

Before the draft I probably felt differently. And maybe if CBJ had gotten Carlsson or WIll Smith in the draft I'd still be for going for someone more proven in Lindholm. But with Fantilli I just don't think it makes much sense.

I disagree with this sentiment. Jarmo traded for Provorov because he HAD to after losing Gavrikov or the defense would have gotten even worse (and still Gavrikov>>Provorov). And then he overpayed to sign a veteran FA defenseman.

Yes, he wants to take a step forward, but I don't think he's ready to be throwing around lottery picks and players that just got drafted in the top of the 1st round to try to get there immediately.

The Jackets will not trade for Lindholm. They could visit him should he get to UFA. However, the Jackets at this point are banking on Silly becoming a 2C. This would essentially slot Jenner in at 3C until either Voronkov makes the jump to that spot or LDBB claims it. Now if Silly fails to improve this year then and only then would the Jackets visit signing Lindholm.
