Hawks pass

Hawks decline. Murphy half retained gets a 1st plus. Brodie isn't a cap dump per se, but he's a one year replacement for Murphy at best. He's not resigning in Chicago, and Richardson doesn't like playing D men on their off side anyway. Robertson is damaged goods, and with all the young forwards the Hawks have drafted the past two years, he's not even a need at this point. Same for Peksa. Not a need. Hawks have Commesso and Gejan in their pipeline now. I'm not even sure the Hawks entertain trade offers for Murphy, but if they did, I'd say replace Robertson and Peksa with Lilypad or a 2nd round pick and that at least gets the discussion going.

This on all fronts....especially the poor fit of a goalie and an oft (actually more like constantly) injured midget like Robertson. I don't think the "value" is off as much as the fit of some of the pieces. Even if you love Robertson as a prospect and think he can bounce back to health and develop....he is a terrible fit for a Hawks team that has Bedard, Nazar, Moore, and even Reichel in their top 9 (if not 6) going forward....Hawks need some size and Robertson is not that.

We've already been down this road already.

A) This is different from what the AGM creator originally posted.
B) Murphy is worth a 1st and maybe slightly more retained as I said in a prior post. Brodie would need to be half retained and flipped at the deadline for the 1st plus deal so fair enough...he was not in the original proposal. Robertson is cooked beans, the guy needs to change his game or he's done in the NHL....he plays reckless and has paid a price for it both in the pros and juniors....so the original deal was Murphy (-2M which is $6M and a retention slot) for Robertson and 1st and I said the hawks pass because of my personal feelings on Robertson.
