Detroit passes, We're not trading a 40-50 point LD/RD in Shayne Gostisbehere for Jeff Petry.

For the past 2 off-seasons we've seen the Petry to Detroit trade around 5 times a day and you'd have to think the group of Montreal fans that keep posting them would get tired of ALWAYS BEING WRONG when it comes to trades with Detroit.

None of this is even remotely realistic. Teams don't trade guys they JUST signed.

Furthermore, Ghost is worth FAR more than Petry's corpse and we don't want Petry, at ALL, let alone ADDING. That's beyond ridiculous. The ONLY scenario in which Detroit would even consider Petry as an option, would be Chiarot for Petry, straight up. As for Duke, Detroit isn't trading for forwards, unless one is going out. We have too many contracts as it is.

I think I'd prefer to wait until the deadline when teams are more desperate and are more ok with giving up 1sts since they have a good idea of how late it'll be.
Duclair will get top 6 ice-time so he could really have a great season

All these trades on CFACGM where a GM signs a UFA and then proceeds to trade him before ever playing a game for his team. Hehe

I think he's gone at the TDL to a contender, but I have a hard time seeing a 1st. Will absolutely take that though.

I totally agree w/ you but trading him now is just playing it safe. I definitely want him to stay in SJ until the tdl but if we were offered a 2nd now I'd accept. always the chance he doesn't perform well/gets injured given his injury history and doesn't have value by tdl.

Yeah, I'd be willing to switch the 5th to a 4th and add another 4th to have the conditions that the 2nd get's upgraded to 1st if Detroit makes the playoffs and Duclair plays in 50% of games
