I was just going to leave this post alone because I’m frankly tired of the Pesce Toronto stuff… this KK take I can’t leave alone.

The reach for KK was made by MTL, and then their mismanagement of him delayed his growth. He, however, is not a “cap dump”. He’s an appropriately paid middle 6 2 way centerman…who will continually become more appropriately paid as the years go by and he continues to improve.

There are a lot of ‘cap dumps’ in the NHL, and the Canes have zero of them.

Dont get why people think theirs value in him. He isnt as bad as before but were not trading a 40 potential 50 goal scorer and a future top 4 Dman for this guy and 1 year of Pesce

Honestly a sign and trade involving Willy for Pesce + Necas makes so much sense

Canes get 8 years of Willy to play next to Aho and Svechnikov and Toronto takes the risk of adding Necas who had 1 good season and Pesce who could leave in FA.

The dude is very good defensively while being able to put up okay production for a 2C (when given 2nd line minutes) and it's a pretty fair contract given market value plus he's expected to continue developing.

Not sure how you figure KK = Lili 🤔? KK is - at best - a decent 3C, not a lot of points but responsible defensively; his contract is not great, term or aav, given his (lack of) production. Lili is cost controlled RHD poised to play top 4 minutes. Worst case, his aav is similar to Kk on next deal. Top 4 RHD >> 3C that does not score

I was just thinking Pesce and Necas for Nylander would be a good deal, assuming contract extensions for everyone.
