Obviously Toronto adds. A complimentary winger doesn't have value anywhere close to a 40G, 6 time PPG 1C. One year of Scheifele >>>> one year of Nylander.

Except that Nylander is 3 years younger, over 1m cheaper, and also scored 40 goals this season. 40-47--87 for Nylander vs. 42-26--68 for Scheifele. Winnipeg is the team that adds. Maybe it's an even one for one, but in no world do I see Toronto adding.

WPG needs to add, mostly because of age. The trade is pretty even, but I have questions regarding Shiefele's commitment to 200ft play over the last 2 seasons.

If only one team extends a player, they'd be the winners of the trade. If both players extend then WPG is the winner. If both players leave then I guess both teams are losers, because they didn't get any assets.

Seeing as they're both rentals, one year of a 40G 1C is far more valuable than one year of a soft 40G winger. Nylander doesn't do anything better than Scheifele and has all the same faults.

I'm from WPG and a Jets fan.

I take that deal as is and add a 2nd and 3rd and Logan Stanley or Nate Schmidt, whichever works for you.

Well they're both pending UFAs, sure Nylander is younger but a 1C is considered the most valuable position pretty much, so I can't see Winnipeg adding. Maybe 1 for 1, even if I don't think the Jets should do it because Scheifele is more offensively gifted than people usually give him credit for.

Problem #1: There’s pretty much a 0% chance of Nylander even extending in Winnipeg

Problem #2: Since when has Toronto needed another center?

Isn't Scheifele very unpopular with teammates? His playoff performance has had one good season, not the guy the leafs want at 2C.
