Everyone knows CAR's major problem is offense and scoring goals when the going gets tough. Most of the Nylander trades on here are pure nonsense, this is at least in the ballpark of realistic and beneficial to both sides.

Nope, he's not better than Svechnikov, and Carolina's issue isn't goal scoring talent. That's such a lazy take. Look at the numbers, the issue is the system. Carolina's entire offense relies on point shots and tips, which is fine, but it means that none of the Canes forwards were in the top 20 in High-Danger Chances for among skaters that played 50 minutes. Kase and Max technically were, but they played 6 games combined. This doesn't fix anything for the Canes, and just damages their future asking for a player that could be as good if not better than nylander while also being 6 years younger.

Nylander is not the answer to scoring goals when the going gets tough. He gets most of his play off points early in the series, or when the game have already been decided. And on top of that he is not committed to his own end of the ice, he tends to be on the ice for more goals scored against than for, which is the exact opposite type of team Carolina has. He certainly is dynamic offensively, but it comes at a cost in his own end, which is magnified in the later games of play off series when the checking and defense intensifies and teams take less chances because they don't want to give up that one crucial mistake. Nylander is a great addition for a team looking to win the Presidents cup, but the same cannot be said for the Stanley Cup.
