Trades
1.
TOR
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Minnesota's T9 could use another solid forward, so they add a good secondary scoring guy who is versatile and good on both ends. They use the picks in this deal, plus another asset to dump Gologoski/Foligno somewhere, sign Addison at 1.5 million
MIN
  1. Järnkrok, Calle
  2. 2024 4th round pick (TOR)
  3. 2024 7th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Leafs get a 2nd rounder, Jarnkrok seems to be a luxury right now, so while his value is high, you deal him, give a youngster a T9 spot and use the excess money to acquire a defenceman
2.
TOR
  1. Tanev, Christopher ($2,225,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Assuming Calgary is below or near .500 near the deadline, stocking up on draft capital on pending FA's rather than losing them for nothing, or a 1st round exit should be key. Here, they get a 1st rounder as they try to re-tool on the fly.
CGY
  1. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
  2. 2024 5th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
TRADE COMPARABLE: David Savard, Ben Chairot

Toronto adds a shutdown defenceman who can provide positives in all three ends, can block, hit, and play PK. He can play big minutes, helping take off minutes from McCabe and Brodie, and would complement a Reilly or Klingberg very well. Rounds out the defence, and is from Toronto while also a guy who Treliving signed in Calgary. Almost a seamless fit
3.
TOR
  1. Fischer, Christian ($350,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Detroit has a boatload of youngsters knocking on the door (Veleno, Soderblom, Kasper), and with almost 15 NHL caliber forwards, by the TDL the Red Wings may need to make a decision. Most likely seems to be Fischer.
DET
  1. 2026 4th round pick (TOR)
  2. 2026 5th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Fischer is a really good B6 forward, he can check (126 hits), play on the PK and possesses a strong, accurate shot. Is a speedy, 2-way PWF who is consistent and responsible and could be a pain come playoff time
4.
TOR
  1. Vaakanainen, Urho
  2. 2025 4th round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Anaheim gets a former 1st rounder, who with minimal opportunity in Toronto managed to put up 14 points in just 25 contests. With a full-time job, he could blossom into a solid OFD. They also receive Lafferty, a speedy grinder who is a solid B6 player
ANA
  1. Lafferty, Sam
  2. Timmins, Conor
Additional Details:
The Leafs get Vaakanainen, a guy who has struggled due to injuries, but still has some potential as a solid 2-way defender.

Please stop with the Leafs spare trash to Minnesota proposals. We don't want Jarnkrok and we don't have cap space.

"Minnesota's T9 could use another solid forward"

No, they do NOT. Not unless that player is a bona fide top-six center. Because unless that player being acquired is that, then they're better off just using an ELC in that spot.

Jarnkrok to Minnesota DOES NOT WORK. Under any circumstance.

That's a reasonable offer for Fischer at the deadline. Not ideal to retain on that cheap of a contract though. If we are out of the playoff picture I hope Detroit sells off some UFAs.

With the cap going up and more flexibility, it's more likely they keep rentals now. If we did go after Tanev, I'd expect we re-sign him with the extra flexibility. Scouting team usually does their best work in the 2nd/3rd round anyway (Knies, Robertson, Niemela, etc). It was hard to keep guys like ROR, Foligno, Acciari but with the cap expected to sky-rocket, I think teams go after more rentals now because it's easier to keep them beyond this year, and for the Leafs, they could use another T4 or depth guy, unless Liljergren can explode.

His value is high is pretty funny. Jarnkroks a good guy but he's a 30+ year old journeyman winger. You can staple anything you want to him no one needs to give a 2nd rounder to get him.

Anaheim has a wealth of offensive minded D, we really don't need to add one, nor do we have a consistent spot for a 4th RHD this season.

Also not sure what you read on Vaak, he's never been a two way threat, he's defense only, it was even noted in his draft profile that he had minimal offensive ceiling.

Not saying this trade wouldn't happen, but there's no really reason for Anaheim to do it from an organizational need perspective, but there's no need to shine up a nothing trade.

He was traded for a second, third and seventh in 2022 at the deadline. Not disagreeing with you totally, just saying it's actually not unreasonable considering his last return.
