That defence is weaker without Chabot. Taking his cap hit and spending it on Boeser who wont have much success on a 3rd line doesnt make the team better imo

I really like Chabot as a player but there are two reasons I wouldn’t make this deal if I was Chicago.

First, until the Hawks start making a move up the standings it is too risky to trade away 1st round picks that could end up being top 10 selections.

Second, Chabot seems to have a history of getting injured on a regular basis. I would be concerned about his long term effectiveness as these injuries start to pile up.

Maybe if the picks were sooner, but not that far off.

Hawks only consider it if the pick is top 10 protected. If Chabot played RD they'd probably do it with only top 3 protection

Hawks probably decline. And not because Chabot isn't worth a 1st rounder. He obviously is. It's more of a "fit" issue. Chabot is pretty much a left shot version of Seth Jones. They play a very similar style, and have the same strengths and weaknesses. Don't see them as a good pairing playing together. And they are both too expensive to play on 2nd pair. There can only be one QB of your first PP unit. Chabot just doesn't seem like a good fit for the Hawks.

I'm not against moving Chabot, and have taken heat for saying so, but THIS is not what I'd want to see happen with the cap space created doing it.
This roster is not as good as the one we'll be playing this year.

CHI isn't the right place for Chabot.

Go after a UFA instead of trading for Boeser, the 2024 UFA class is stacked (as of now of course)

And that Chabot trade is tooooooo risky for both sides. Chicago doesn't want to trade a lottery pick and Ottawa wouldn't want a pick that isn't Top-6 at least

And Sens NEEEED Chabot, much much more than Boeser.

Could go from a playoffs team (if they make it) to a non-playoffs team again
