I'd hope the Wild wouldn't make a deal like that.

Wallstedt could very well be a top tier franchise goalie. Perfetti isn't likely to be a franchise 1c center and Boston isn't likely to fall off so much that the pick ends up being a top 3 pick that gives the Wild a shot at drafting one, so better to stick with the player who has a higher ceiling.

Morrisey or KFC would cost that alone without a pick going back.

That is not a good trade for Detroit despite it making them better in the short run.

With the way our RD is looking and the time it takes before our prospects fix that it doesn't help to have three years of Connor. The roster would be unbalanced, both when it comes to positions as well as with timing.

Detroit is going to be good when we get all our prospects up to speed in about three to four years time. Trading our best prospects and picks for players that won't be here when that happens is not a strategy that works.

The best strategy for Detroit is to keep the current strategy of drafting well and filling out the roster with UFAs until such time that we have our long term core in place. That means waiting until ASP, Kasper, Mazur, Edvinsson, Johansson, Danielson, Raymond, Söderblom and the rest of the kids are fully established in the NHL. Only then is it time to start making any major moves.

If we were to make trades like this one now then we would get Connor who would leave (or price himself out) before ASP and Danielson have played a single game and Morrissey would be on the wrong side of 30 (as opposed to Edvinsson being 23 and just getting into his best years). We would also miss out on a 1st round pick for two years. We would be a better team right now but not a good one because the trade doesn't fix our biggest problems and we'd be a much worse team in five years time because of what we gave up.

How would you value a 28 year old #1 Dman coming off a 76 point season under contract for 5 more years at 6.1 AAV? or a 26 year old sniper who's two years removed from 47 goals under contract for 3 more years at a nice deal?
I would say it cost a 1st, a roster player and a top prospect...to be realistic

And I'd argue that you take out that 1st and maybe it's realistic.

We would lose both 1st round picks this year by trading Boston's 2024 1st.

Edmonton declines. They don't do expensive rentals and they aren't re-signing Hellebuyck. They would be interested in Ehlers @ 50% but they aren't going to pay the moon for him.

Well, one of them is already lost in the ADB trade... The big thing is that trading the 2024 pick for one in 2026 means that we'll have to wait two more years before the player is ready to play for us and we can't really afford to postpone our restocking of the prospect cupboard, it is still suffering from the Holland mistreatment.

We still only have two players on our team that Yzerman drafted. Not until that number is quite a bit higher and also an equal number of them reside in GR can I feel "rinsed" of any Holland residue...

Huh? I'm not even a Leafs fan, bozo.
Nor do I think it's a good deal for the Jets. Learn media literacy please.

I was about to **** all over that Detroit trade because I saw Edvinsson and a 1st for Connor... Then I saw the "Throw ins" were a WPG 1st and Morrissey lol.
