but if im vancouver i decline that 2nd trade. neither player is much of a needle mover but at least beau only has one year left instead of two

I can't see Detroit trading Raymond.

Personally i dont mind the Canuck trade.Gives them some much needed defensive depth and some cap space.seems like a fair trade.Just my opinion

Concept behind the Canucks deal is solid but there has to be something in there to account for the extra term on Maatta.

The Winnipeg trade would get Detroit front office fired.

I think this trade makes a lot of sense for Vancouver. Maatta and Hronek played really well together last season, and the cap savings allows Vancouver to be cap compliant with a full 23 man roster that includes Pearson being in the lineup.
Maatta having the extra year is not ideal, however he is 1.1M cheaper than Beau, and plays a more valuable position which offsets the value of having the additional year.

Very true, but this guy is on another level.

i think the extra year is a big negative tbh. already have soucy, maatta is a similar bottom 4 level dman, and would limit the canucks from adding a nther true top 4 next year

Bottom line is this, Filip Hronek played some great hockey but only when paired with Olli Määttä. He was awful playing with anyone else. So putting him with anyone other than Olli Määttä is a risk.
