The Flyers realistically should decline that because those just aren’t the right type of prospects they are looking for.

Do they? I always thought if any prospect is moved, that will be part of package for real impact player, not straight prospect swap. Barron adds nothing extra for 23/24 season. By 24/25 he`ll be already 22 with little NHL expierence.

Well this is next year and he will probably have added more games to his resume. And with Johnson and Joker maybe not being back he will be able to step right in and help at RD. We are not gonna have spots for every prospect.

I think from an organizational standpoint, it's worth it for the Sabres. Barron projects to be a player that would have value for us- he has size, can play well in his own end, and skates well. He shouldn't need to have high end offense here. Depending on how Krebs develops as a 3c, I can see ostlund being made available to upgrade another position. I get the idea of wanting to package stuff and shoot bigger, reasonably I'm not sure how much is available for ostlund plus that would be an upgrade over barron.

He's young and will just be hitting where he's ready for a full season. Plus you can probably get him on a 2 or 3yr deal pretty cheap. It will give the Sabres time if he doesn't work out, hopefully Strbak or McCarthy are ready by then. Plus Barron and Ryan Johnson could make for a decent 3rd pair

Plus novikov and Lindgren. I believe novikov is the 6'3" russian kid that was supposed to be a round 2 talent that went later because nobody thought he would come over. He came over. And Lindgren sounds like he is an incredible skater, but he's much more offensively inclined than Ryan johnson. Lots of variation in playing style for the guys coming up on d, I don't love all of their skill sets equally, but frankly it's nice to see that there is something defensively in the pipeline at least.

They have a huge prospect pool and these guys are not really the top. I think Danny had high interest in Barron, but I could see him going for Beck and maybe even Reinbacher, but that last one is a lot more of a long shot

Johnson is signed for 24/25 as well, so he will be around.
This season is big for Mittelstadt, Greenway, Jokiharju, Krebs, UPL in terms of their future in Sabres lineup. Some of them will not be back

Hawks decline. The last year of Armia takes a better pick to move. At least a 3rd. And Habs can keep Ylonen.

1. I don't see where the Habs are interested in moving Savard but if they did they might be able to get slightly more value but not a bad return here.

2. I don't see any scenario where the new management go after anyone from the 2018 team canada wjc team, especially not any of the ones with the appearance of being involved in that horrific crime. Habs pass

3. I don't think either side wants to make such a lateral trade.

4. Avs might do that and it's not bad value

5. That's pretty fair value to dump Armia Hawks fans probably view it as a bad move since they want to compete asap but a patient approach seems wise here but it really could be any other rebuilding team.

6. This trade could work out very well for both teams and could probably even make that trade this year

It is truly unusual for a team to walk away from a draft with all three of their top targets, and now Buffalo has done that in two consecative years.

Watching the prospects in action Benson, Savoie, Rosen, Kulich, Novikov and Metsa all have an excellent chance of jumping to the NHL soon.
Where does that leave Nadeau, Cederqvist, Kisakov, Kozak, Ostlund, Wahlberg and Neuchev? In Rochester? Traded as Bloom was?
It is unfortunate that Olofsson does not have a future with the Sabres primarily because any of the above mentioned forwards will be paid 1/5 of his current salary and may provide as much offense.
Mittelstadt may be in the same catagory when his contract needs to be renewed as he and Ofofsson should return decent value if or when they are traded.
Greenway and Skinner may not be part of the future either which would open up spots in the line up.
Jost, Girgensons and Okposo probably will not be given extensions, so that opens up 7 forward spots for Benson, Savoie, Rosen, Kulich, Ostlund and two more.
Many players will still be on ELC's when Skinner's contract expires.
Teams are forced to put together a grind line because they do not have the cap space to play four scoring lines.
It will be easy for the Sabres to do that in a couple of years.

Unfortunatly the Sabres have too many LHD with Novikov and Johnson waiting in the wings and Power, Dahlin and Samuelsson already established.
Trading for a 22yo RHD makes sense, as one would certainly fills a need and is in the correct age catagory.
Maybe a trade would involve roster players and not prospects.

Well that is my penny and half tome for the week.

Gonna be interesting to see what the Sabres do over the next couple years. They already have a young team. And they have a lot of good Prospects coming. Gonna be a numbers game, some good players are gonna have to be moved unfortunately. And you can't have Prospects blocking prospects because they become wasted assets then.
