Quoting: BUFF36
Buffalo accepts
Quoting: Czu8iks
Do they? I always thought if any prospect is moved, that will be part of package for real impact player, not straight prospect swap...
Quoting: sabres89
I think from an organizational standpoint, it's worth it for the Sabres...
It is truly unusual for a team to walk away from a draft with all three of their top targets, and now Buffalo has done that in two consecative years.
Watching the prospects in action Benson, Savoie, Rosen, Kulich, Novikov and Metsa all have an excellent chance of jumping to the NHL soon.
Where does that leave Nadeau, Cederqvist, Kisakov, Kozak, Ostlund, Wahlberg and Neuchev? In Rochester? Traded as Bloom was?
It is unfortunate that Olofsson does not have a future with the Sabres primarily because any of the above mentioned forwards will be paid 1/5 of his current salary and may provide as much offense.
Mittelstadt may be in the same catagory when his contract needs to be renewed as he and Ofofsson should return decent value if or when they are traded.
Greenway and Skinner may not be part of the future either which would open up spots in the line up.
Jost, Girgensons and Okposo probably will not be given extensions, so that opens up 7 forward spots for Benson, Savoie, Rosen, Kulich, Ostlund and two more.
Many players will still be on ELC's when Skinner's contract expires.
Teams are forced to put together a grind line because they do not have the cap space to play four scoring lines.
It will be easy for the Sabres to do that in a couple of years.
Unfortunatly the Sabres have too many LHD with Novikov and Johnson waiting in the wings and Power, Dahlin and Samuelsson already established.
Trading for a 22yo RHD makes sense, as one would certainly fills a need and is in the correct age catagory.
Maybe a trade would involve roster players and not prospects.
Well that is my penny and half tome for the week.
