Quoting: gee
So true! Fans on this site give their opinions as if they are facts. Just in this post alone you see. "Hart doesn't get you a 1st", "Ottawa has no interest in this", as if they are in fact sourced into these teams front office. This is a fan opinion based, fun, thing to do when you are bored, nothing more nothing less. None of us have any idea what trade any of these teams will execute. A bunch of Eklunds on here, lol.
Of course no one knows what WILL happen but the point of this armchair game is also to determine if the proposed deals would make sense for the team(s) you follow.
Ottawa has no interest in your proposed deal, for many reasons
1- They are NOT looking to trade Pinto. They have been high on him for longer than any of us have heard his name. In March, they decided to trade their 12th OA pick instead of him to acquire Chychrun, which gives you an idea of how high they value him... They of course won't want to trade him for soon to be 30 y/o Laughton, even if 50% retained.
2- They are also not looking to trade Bernard-Docker, a former 1st round pick in who they invested time and ressource, unspectacular but solid defensive RHD who is a NEED for them. He's much younger than Seeler and also cost controlled while Seeler is UFA. JBD is graduating this season and will be cheap for a few years
3- Mathieu Joseph is a guy they have been after for a while. Wade Allison is 2 M$ cheaper but a major downgrade. Joseph is a very good defensive forward with elite PK metrics. He's a guy that has paced for 30 pts per 82 games in his career despite being mainly deployed defensively at ES and PK, with limited minutes.
A late 1st and the cap space is not enough for them to trade Pinto, Joseph and JBD this way. Not major downgrades this season but long term, yes.
So what is the solution for them to get cap compliant? Simply to trade Kubalik or Brannstrom for a pick. Both players that they have ready-players for (Greig and Kleven)
So this is not me giving you my opinion as a fact, it is an argumentation built on a plethora of facts and contextual team knowledge/logic
