Is CBJ actually playing Laine at center this season?

Assuming the pick is protected the offer is close to fair but Calgary is reportedly pretty close to extending Lindholm and the Backlund extension kind of sealed in their commitment to not selling

It's looking probable. He has looked good and had great analytics in the last couple games he played there in pre-season and the couple games he played there at the end of last season.

if they cant extend him, i doubt they could get a better return than this. I also think if we trade for a top6 C, Laine would play on the wing and Boone would be the 3C.

Interesting! Seems a lot of teams are experimenting with that right now. Great way to get extra value out of players on the ice or in trade.

Strong bid. But cannot see Flames selling him before season…and can’t see Columbus buying at deadline.

But if season goes south for CGY and CBJ is in the mix…might be good move.

He's looking to be a viable 2C. He was 58% on the dot yesterday and I am pretty sure every game he's played center hes been a + (granted I hate +/- but just trying to put in perspective). Its alot easier to get a 2RW than a 2C today so while I rather have him on the wing its not as crazy as it sounds.

Like any statistic, +/- tells a story. Some stories are good, some bad, some don't line up with other stats or the eye test. I like it, personally. I think most of the rhetoric about not liking it is just snobbery.

But, that's cool. Good for Laine. I was starting to lose hope for him.
