Im not a fan of either team but i do know the Habs are very high on guhle. I also know dobson is very very good but Guhle is looking like hell be just as good.

Two very different types of players, Guhle is better at transition defending and Dobson has the higher offensive game. Dobson will be more valuable than Guhle because offensive Dmen are harder to find.

Don't think the Isles say yes to this deal but I don't know if the Habs do either. Isles say no because of value, Habs probably say no because they have other RHD prospects they hope work out

Guhle is literally, EXACTLY 2 years younger than Dobson. Exactly.

Dobson, exactly at same age as Guhle's first season, as almost EXACTLY the same numbers.
Guhle is also giving bone crushing hits and an elite skater.

He's 2 years younger and on the EXACT same trajectory.

So yes, Habs decline, just because there's no need.

The real question is... LHD or RHD. And 2 years difference.

Please, look at the stats from both players, and realize - if you can refrain from allowing your bias blind you - that whoever posted this trade - is way closer in trade value than your knee-jerk uninformed reaction projects.

Dobson is a great young offensive D man but that isn't what Montreal is doing with their defense. Take a look at what their D men look like Guhle, Reinbacher, Mailloux, Barron, Xhekaj, Matheson, Kovacevic all big, mobile, 2 way D men hell even Harris and Konyushkov are just under 6' but their play styles and hockey IQ make up for being slightly on the smaller side. Hutson is our only D prospect taken in the last 3 years who doesn't really fit that mold.

Fair debate lol - Dobson is one of the best chance creating defenseman in the NHL and Guhle isnt anywhere close to Dobson’s level. MTL could add a 1st and isles would still decline

You seem to forget that they have exactly 2 year apart and have almost identical offensive stats when they were playing at 20 years old.

Dobson is a better skater than Guhle . Hits don’t matter.


Guhle is better at 5v5 defense. Dobson is a better passer, shooter, transition player , penalty killer, PP etc…
