Bruins need centers more than denfensemen.

Behrens should swapped for someone who isn't an LD. We already have a lot of LD.

Also the 2nd rounders need to be earlier than 3 drafts away.

Behrens is seen as a Girard replacement, would be tough to do a deal with both involved.

Okay well, the first one is BRUTAL for the Flyers and I can't think of any reason the Bruins would even consider the second one.

I'd rather have the 2nds three years away because these teams are going to be strapped for cap and have very depleted prospect pools. It's more likely they will be in early in the second round compared to later. I also think it's beneficial to spread out draft picks over years and those picks could be used in trades when Michkov/Gauthier are coming over or already here. In the end, it's TK + Seeler + 5th for Behrens + Lysell + 2nd + 2nd. Probably a lot higher on Lysell and Behrens than others however. Those picks could also be conditional to upgrade.

Edit: I also don't believe the market for TK will ever reach what Philadelphia fans expect it to reach. He's not as good as someone like Eichel or PLD but has more future value compared to Toffoli and R. Smith. I think GMDB mistimed the market and now he's going to have to be sold as a rental or find a team that is willing to do a sign and trade with a player who has no team control remaining

If players like Savard and JG Pageau can catch a 1st, TK certainly will.

I'll keep saying it: Manson is the first D the Avs will trade. The return isn't nearly as important to the Avs as the cap space is. I'd actually be surprised if they trade Girard at all.

Wth is that, not a chance in hell the Avs trade a top 4 dman for that package much less add in arguably their top prospect and a pick.

I’d certainly consider Lysell + Behrens to be equivalent to a late 1st rounder in value, in addition to the 2nd round picks. I also think the market has changed since 2020 and 2021 and wild imagine most people in hindsight would consider those deals to have been unfavorable for the acquiring team (maybe outside of TBL since they won the cup).

It more so has to do with cap space next year after the Toews extension. Manson has a NTC so I doubt he waives unless they are willing to place him on waivers similar to McDonagh. I’d think adding a top-six scorer for 2.5M would be worth a future 2nd and a defensive prospect considering they are still in a cup contention window

Edit: it becomes a M-NTC but even then there would only be 20 teams willing to take him on and the context of Colorado’s cap sheet might make it less likely teams take him on without additional compensation. But I still thinking upgrading their top-six would be good, especially if they are moving from an area they have a surplus

Agree with the Manson part but could see Girard or Byram being moved too. COL after re-signing Toews is going to evolve into a big 3 on defense.

Fair enough, was making the trade under the assumption it’s McAvoy, Lindholm, Carlo, Lohrei and everyone else heads out. Like Lohrei’s game but feel that Girard is a solid two-way player to add to the fold

Assuming they trade their top 4 d men that are signed for years? Weird flex.

Assuming they relocate to Boise Idaho would be a safer take. Lol.

No, I’m saying I’m assuming those are the only players on the roster next year and the other players - Gryzlek, Forbot, Shattenkirk all walk and are on other teams.

Lol, got it. Comprehension before morning coffee is sketchy at times.

We’ll just go with Mitchell, Walsh, Regula and a cheap 3rd pair free agent LD to fill out the bottom of the D.

It's possible they move Girard, too, but I think they're trying to be an absolute juggernaut on D (and banking on the cap to go up significantly the next few seasons) so they'll hang onto him as long as possible. What I do think this signing may mean is that they're going to be forced to get more of their young guys into the lineup eventually; they simply cannot afford to continue to bring in FA's to fill holes, especially considering they have to re-sign Bo, Mikko and Cale within the next four years.

Fair enough, I was struggling to find a team that would really benefit from Girard and figure his contract is more favorable compared to a Gryzlek extension. Like Walsh since his DY but not sure if he can really round out the bottom pair. Hopefully they can do what you said and just sign some vet for dirt cheap

Even if you need cap space you don’t trade a 25yr old top 4 dman locked up long term for junk drawer worth of crap. They just traded Newhook for a 1st and 2nd that package is a far cry from that and the Avs are going to want more in return for Girard than they got for Newhook.

TK isn't "junk drawer worth of crap", even considering the retained salary. 2.7M in projected cap space with 14 players on the roster. The money needs to come from somewhere and would have to imagine they more than one roster player for non-futures.
