Here's the trouble trading an 8m player. Can the Hawks next year spend 8m on a UFA....and keep those picks and Allan and be better off???
Admitting those picks aren't THAT high....could be a deal there as you suggest.

Hawks decline. They don't need another high priced D man. One is enough. And that $8m can be better spent without giving up 3 quality assets.

Could get so much better for Chabot then that, trading him would be such a bad move for the Sens.

This Pinto stalemate is ridiculous, the guy has ONE 30 point season, this is simple math, get it done already Shane and Pierre FFS!!!

Allan looks like a legit piece of CHI's future that can play the right side quite effectively. He made a strong case to make the NHL roster out of camp, too. Why would a rebuilding team trade him along with two valuable draft picks for an overpaid left shot dman when we already have too many LHD as it is?

While it shouldn’t be this way long term, the Hawks have to overpay to get players to consider playing on a bad team in free agency. Until you show competence, your ability to secure free agents is based on paying higher than market value.

Ottawa is not going to trade away Chabot. They probably do need to accept that they need to give away Kubalik for nothing to enable the Pinto deal.

This is just so untrue, it is widely noted that Chicago is one of the favourite destinations for a lot of NHL players. Add to that the fact it is also a major market, original six franchise and centrally located and they will have no issue attracting players especially given the fact they just drafted one of the most highly coveted young players in the last 25 years.

As for the proposal, the Hawks decline, while Chabot is talented I can’t see them wanting to spend $8m on another d-man when they already have Jones making $9.5m. On top of that, Chabot can’t seem to stay healthy, just about every season he misses a significant chunk of games.

I think Davidson would rather keep Allan who is highly thought of and progressing nicely and the two top two round picks.

You are living in the past and probably the future once Davidson shows some level of competence. In the present, Chicago is a bad team and a side show waiting to become better and good players don’t go to side shows without compensation.

Chabot's game yesterday is the reason why you don't trade him

It helps that he is finally playing (first time in his career) with a top pairing D-man... I love Zub and DeMelo but they're 2nd pairing... And Zaitsev is Zaitsev

It was clear that Chabot-Sanderson-Chychrun trifecta was going to be Ottawa's strength and they should not change that at all.
