Hawks pass. Taking back Ceci for 2 years breaks this.

Would you rather get 2 - first round assets for Hart OR get 3 - first round assets for Hart and take on Jack Cambell's $5M per year without retention for 3.5 years?

You can move 2-3 first round assets to lose Campbell, or 2-3 first round assets to get Hart. You don't get both.

Don't think the Caps will part with Dowd for less than a 2nd if they're retaining salary for two years. The Eller trade is a good comp for Dowd.

Fair

Just thought hawks still be in a building mode for a couple years and will need someone to play D still. thought a couple picks and prospects would entice a bit

Assume with any Campbell trade, the buyout gets used in the offseason...so essentially paying a couple firsts for some buyout money, which brings acquiring cost more in line with what Draft pick capital costs in NHL market

Murphy is just as bad as Ceci and on a worse contract.

That's 7 years against the cap (1 during the trade deadline, and 6 from the buyout) from $1.1M to $2.6M during the buyout, that isn't nothing, that goes fully into any team's rebuild window. Do you have any equivalent of a team taking on 7 years of a contract that they ultimately need to bury?

I put a post up a few days ago in Flyers. I think Campbell is gonna cost two top prospects and 2-3 picks if you want Hart.

Holloway, Bourgault, 2024 1 and 2nd, 2025 1st. Also EDM retains 1.5M. Is what it is.

I think you have to see how tough the Campbell contract is to move, first of all he can put those teams willing to take him on his 10-team no trade. Why should he agree to go to a rebuilding team that will further hurt his stats and chances of being in the NHL. If you can get past that, Campbell's still owed $13.5M in real dollars, if you can work with that you have to identify that if he is bought out, his contract is on the books for 7 years (including this season).

Now let's say Philly is ok with either not buying him out and paying $10M in cap for two goaltenders for 2 seasons, and $5M for another and commit to no buyouts. They also moved their best asset in this trade as well. I think you need another asset from Edmonton to make it make sense.

Change that 2nd to a 1st and the Hawks might think about it

You are in no way correct lol 2-3 1sts to dump Campbell, a 1st and top prospect for Hart, a 1st and prospect for Laughton. By my calculation you’re about 2 1st round picks, a top prospect, and a decent prospect minimum away from the Flyers even considering accepting that trade lol. It’s not “some buy-out money” it’s a terrible buy-out for the worst contract and worst goalie in the league. It would be a historic cap dump lol.
