Description

With Freddie having a "Blood clotting" issue (I hope he's ok and stays ok). The Canes being 2nd last in SV% in this very short season to date. Halak being signed to a PTO. I could see the following trade below.

Years ago I'd have debates with other CAR fans about Mrazek. I didn't much prefer for his play, but they absolutely loved the guy and defended him SO hard. The saying Waddell doesn't really do "rentals" isn't exactly true. He doesn't make giant splashes for rentals. He has made smaller moves pretty regularly.

Makes sense to me. If I'm KD I'm trying to sell Mrazek sooner rather than later while hes got the hot hand and is still healthy

With the Canes knowing what they would have in Mrazek, I think they don’t do that, especially with how high that pick is likely to be. As it stands, Raanta has returned to form, PK should have regained his confidence with Syracuse, and Halak probably just has to play average for the Canes to make the playoffs. If there is a problem with goaltending around the deadline, it should be addressed at that point.

My biggest gripe with all the goalie trades people are making for the Canes, is what if Freddie is able to return before the playoffs? It’s a little bit too early to just commit to a trade, especially when we don’t know how long Freddy will be on the shelf. At least with Halak, who if signed, would be at a league min contract, could be waived and potentially be claimed if need be. You don’t get that same benefit with Mrazek or any of the other goalies that might be on the market.

They should just buy him out but GMs hate admitting they made a mistake. We'll see. Really hope Davidson is calling Holland every hour just dangling mrazek in his face.

and TOR! Woll overall has been fine, but if last night continues...woah! He was really bad last night. 3 of those goals were all squarely on him.

I think so but I'm no expert. That's another reason why I hope the hawks are on the phone with them. Edmonton is in such a terrible spot right now and the worst part is their gm is Ken Holland.

Yeah if I'm San Jose or especially Chicago then I'm calling every day seeing if Ken really needs those firsts.
