Flames Decline: This doesn’t interest or help us, we need a Top Centre or RD Prospect

Make it Zacha + Poitras + Boqvist + Regula + Olson FOR Lindholm (no retention) + Mathias Emelio Pettersen

If you want a Poitras Replacement, we have Ruzicka or Dube, which’ll cost you Faranacci or Lysell

No interest in DeBrusk. We'll just retain more and get better futures. We'll take Forbort or Geekie if the cap is too tight

Maybe Columbus offers Kent Johnson in a deal and you should leap if that happens, but outside of that … I seriously doubt you get a better offer than Lysell, DeBrusk, and a number 1 (have no idea why the original poster included had that much retention).

Lindholm isn’t playing as well as normal and he’s a pending FA looking for max years at 9m+ AAV.

Well that pick isn’t till 2026, we have Coronato, Schwindt and Klapka, so don’t need Lysell and we have Zary, Mangiapane, Ruzicka, Coleman, Pospisil, Sharangovich, so we don’t need or have any interest in DeBrusk

Yeah if you don’t want the much better Player in Lindholm for Zacha + Poitras Olson and an AHL RD, then yeah, we’ll wait and move him at the Deadline 50% Retained for something like Hampus Lindholm brought or I’m suggesting here anyways and more

Why!? Where am I off exactly lol!? How much value do you give Boqvist vs MEP (that’s a wash) or Regula!? You don’t think Lindholm is worth Zacha + Poitras + Olson + change!?

The last part.

For starters Boston is not trading either of those pieces. The point is to add to their current roster. That would be a backwards move.

If they were moving them they’d be going after a much bigger fish.

Zacha has 12 points in 15 games, winning 52% faceoffs, playing good D, killing penalties.

Quite frankly the difference between a signed Zacha and Elias is not Poitras. At this point, it’s barely anything.

This year and last, Lindholm has 3 more points. Factor in cost of next contract to Zachas current. They don’t trade 1 for 1.

Yeah well Lindholm doesn’t have Pastrnak and Bergeron as his Wingers either…. Frankly, Zacha’s number should be better given the Wingers he has. Frankly, Lindholm is a clear upgrade over Zacha and would make BOS’s Top Line dominant again

I know BOS Fans are all hot and bothered by Top Prospect Poitras, but Frankly, that’s all he is, a Top Prospect and Lindholm is still a Top Selke Quality 1C with a Right Handed Elite Elite Shot, so he’s pretty valuable

I do not think that Boston has the pieces it would be willing to part with to get E. Lindholm at this point. I think the best move for Calgary will be to hope he goes on a tear and sell as a rental at the deadline. Boston won't be in on that unless his value plummets, because their center situation is much less dire than assumed in the offseason, and they don't have picks to spare. The Bruins strongly hope that he is available as a UFA in the offseason though, because he would definitely help their top 6 situation. But I personally think the real trade is somewhere in the middle between what is being discussed.

Teams don't give up on 19 year olds centers who are playing in the NHL, cost controlled for many more years, and project to be top 6 players. They would be crazy to! But I acknowledge we don't know what he will be. But what we do know is that his potential long term impact is high, and E. Lindholm would have a higher impact today, but at over 10x the cap hit starting next year.

Looks like BOS does need help in their Bottom-6 Forward and Bottom-2 Defensive Pairings

Any interest in Dube, Ruzicka, Duehr, Hanifin or Zadorov and if so, what assets should you be willing to give up for whoever I named above that fancies you!?

Wrong again, those spots are pretty well set.

Boston needs a top 6 FW. While many feel it’s a center. It’s not. They need a goal scoring wing for the 2nd line.

Zacha is playing better than Lindholm is this year, you’re gonna be extremely disappointed in the return if he is traded you won’t get half the value you just listed. That’s a better return than Eichel.

Never said Lindholm is not valuable. He would be a great fit.

Trading Zacha and Poitras for him is bordering on ret@rded and piss poor roster management.

Agreed on all of this with a caveat: Zacha could slide back to wing if an elite C was available, or down to 2C in the event of injuries or slumps.

Also if they re-sign Debrusk, he can play either side. So really any top 6 F spot would be fair game, depending on who is available and what the cost is. Due to their flexibility and lack of picks, they may be best served seeking 2RW/2LW either in FA or in a bargain deal.

As for the D, they should only seek low cost and low event steady players. No more multi-year 3m+ guys on the third pair. I do not know enough about Zadorov, but I don't think they should chase Hanafin. They should probably look in-house.

Calgary fans are only going to base lindholm off one outlier season. Tkachuk elevated lindholm but lindholm can’t elevate Huberdeau. If they don’t like the deadline returns they can still blame Sutter

TBH if they add a center I see them moving Poitras to wing this year. Would cut down on the pressure and responsibility of playing center. Plus his faceoff % is hovering just above 40%. Certainly could move Zacha to wing, or Coyle, but those two are playing very well where they are.

Novak from Preds would be a great target. Could provide secondary scoring from C or Wing. Cheap contract. Lots of flexibility.

Lindholm is absolutely a Selke caliber center. His defensive metrics alone put him into that category. He's also garnered Selke votes throughout his career. He's just not a legitimate top line 1C. Despite what Flames fans would have you believe.

He's a high-end 2C capable of filling in a 1C role if no better option is available. But his career production numbers and advanced stats all point to him being a 2C.

Think Mikko Koivu or Joel Eriksson-Ek, both great shutdown Center's who were/are both Selke caliber 2C's but not legitimate 1C's. Lindholm belongs in that same category as them.

From the little I've seen and his analytics, I wouldn't say he's a consistent Selke level player. Some good and some mediocrity.
Goals Above Replacement Defensively and Expected GAR (xDef) via Evolving-Hockey
2018-19: 2.1 and 4.7
2019-20: -1.7 and -1.4
2020-21: 0.9 and -0.6
2021-22: 3 and -0.2
2022-23: 0.2 and -1.5

I do agree for the high-end C that can move up when needed.

Agreed. But the overarching point is that he belongs in Selke consideration.

But I'm also not paying half of what Calgary fans want for him, nor the reported $9M his agent is asking for either.

No, just mirroring you to illustrate how annoying you come across lol

What happened to the Great Jake DeBrusk! Put him back there. Or play Lindholm on the Wing

In any event, if Lindholm were playing where Zacha is, he’d be producing far more. Lindholm is definitely under performing, but to me that explainable. He’s on a struggling team with a revolving dooor of wingers and the one they’re trying again to force chemistry in Huberdeau is completely lost right now and they’re clearly not a fit together

It’s clear BOS doesn’t have much of value in terms of Trade Bait because they don’t want to consider giving up anything of value that might be, so it is what it is

Lindholm has been Calgary’s 1C for years now and has been nominated for the Selke 4x Times and should have won it in 2020-21, check it out:

I agree with your assessment, which is why I want him gone

While Lindholm is certainly not Elite, he’s much better than Zacha. That said, I wouldn’t give up Zacha if it’ll cost his replacement $9mil either

Lindholm will rebound this season and I’m this isn’t even my thread, I’m just saying this offer doesn’t interest us and explained what I’d want. I don’t see the basis for a Trade between CGY & BOS, because AJ honestly don’t see BOS offering up or having anything of desire to CGY for even Hanifin, Zadorov, let alone Elias Lindholm
