If I was MTL I'd do it but I suspect CBJ don't want Anderson back.

If I am Montreal, I am doing this every day of the week.

But I strongly doubt Columbus does this.

There's just no upside there for CBJ to take that extra year on

I was thinking with the assets and the 3.2M they could go out and get a good free agent in trade or something like that. Does anyone have a counter that might get it done?

Depends on direction of Columbus going forward, team is in dire need of a legit 2c, that can train up Sillinger and fantilli and make the gaudreau contract a winner. Not sure who had the brain wave of trying laine at center, utter ridiculousness, so selling laine, basically needs something rather shiny, rental first possibly or continued build. Not sure Montreal is not in a similar position with some of there veteran players, and a continued build. ufas aren’t flocking to Columbus so cap really isn’t that much of an advantage. Interesting times in colombus.

Laine for Dach

Totally get your perspective, but Habs pass. I would rather trade Suzuki than Dach... and neither for Laine.

No reason for Jarmo Kekalainen to make this pathetic trade.

When Fantilli matures, I think the free agents will come. Also, Johnny Hockey had a lot of choices...

I'm not a CBJ fan but if I was in their shoes I'd be asking for either a change of scenery player in a similar age range or a futures based package with potentially a short term cap dump to make the money work.

My guess is that MTL could only offer the latter. So something with a 1st or top prospect would need to be part of it IMO.

Got to win to bring the ufas, pretty sure Johnny was a one off, and possibly looking like a tough decision at the moment. Debacle of a coaching hire, pretty much got this season rolling as a write off before it even started. Still don’t understand the loyalty in net, that Elvis extension is mediocre at best. Possibly new coach/new gm and new direction in offseason.

Probably a non-starter then.

I don't get the Laine center thing. You have to be good defensively on the wing as a starting point...

Ya exactly or at a minimum foot speed, laine got his money finding holes, and pp sniping. Gaudreau and him are kind of intriguing, but definitely need the right guy to put it all together,

Anderson has no value with his contract, MTL will have to pay to move him.
