Description
(This is just for fun)

Finding Draisaitl trade comps isn't easy since rarely players of his caliber are moving with term on their deals. So I am going to throw a few out just for conversation sake...this is mostly agnostic to team needs, and just a look at it through historical lens.

1. KEITH TKACHUK 2001: Tkachuk was traded from Arizona to St. Louis. Tkachuk was 1.11 ppg power forward with two-and-a-half years left on his $8.3m deal. He was traded for three prospects and a pick.
-- Ladislav Nagy (21-year old skilled winger making his rookie season)
-- Michal Handzus (24 year old, big two-way center coming off 50-pt season with Selke votes)
-- Jeff Taffe (A big 19-year forward take in late 1st round in previous draft, playing at Univ of Minnesota)
-- 2001 1st round pick

2. MARTIN ST. LOUIS 2014: MSL was traded from TB to NYR at 2014 deadline. He had a year and a half left on contract. While he was an older veteran, he was still in top-10 in scoring at time of trade (and previous Art Ross winner). He was traded for Callahan and two 1sts (with 2nd). Probably not the most fitting comp through (especially with the one I selected here...).
-- Ryan Callahan (27-yr old two way forward with expiring deal)
-- 2014 1st round pick
-- 2015 1st round pick

3. WENDELL CLARK 1994: I added the famous Clark/Sundin deal because it was a trade involving a beloved fan favorite and unicorn of a player at the time. Its hard to find a comp for this deal today because salary plays such a different role. Clark was traded with Sylvain Lefebvre, Landon Wilson and a 1st round pick (#22) for Mats Sundin, Garth Butcher , Todd Warriner and 1st round pick (#10) at the 1994 draft.
-- Mats Sundin was former 1oa coming off 85-pt and 114-pt seasons
-- Garth Butcher was veteran dman
-- Todd Warriner was 4th overall pick two years before
-- Wendell Clark was physical two-way forward coming off 46 goal in 64 game season
-- SylvainLefebvre was defensive dman, who played role with Avs first cup
-- Landon Wilson was big forward drafted #19 the year before.

4. JAROMIR JAGR 2001: Jagr was coming off his fourth straight Art Ross season (his 446 pts were 88 more than next guy)...and was highest paid player in NHL ($11.7m), but had wanted a change of scenery. Mario Lemieux had returned from 4-year absence during 2000-01...which rejuvenated Jagr's stock. Pittsburgh received the Caps top three draftees from 1999 draft (Kris Beech, Michael Sivek, Ross Lupaschuk). It was still seen as a fleecing of Penguins.
-- Kris Beech was big center take 7th in 1999 and was ranked 11th best prospect in 2001 (Hockey News)
-- Michael Sivek was power forward taken 29th in 1999 and was borderline top-25 prospect
-- Ross Lupaschuk was physical RHD taken #34 in 1999.

I can’t see ottawa doing this. Even 1 for 1 with Stutzle . Stutzle is signed for 8.35 mill for 7 more years after this one. Draisaitl will be paid 14.5-15 mill in 2 years. Doesn’t make sense

No way Sens trade Stutzle away in Draisaitl trade.

Timmy is a total nonstarter, obviously. Won't argue he's better than Draisaitl, but he's 7 years younger, and under contract for 6 years longer at a lower cap hit. Nobody in their right mind is making that swap 1 for 1.

That CBJ trade is laughably light. If you replace LDBB with Johnson then it’s closer, but probably needs a 1st and maybe another pick too.

Yeah, I agree. I know it's a comp, but wow Columbus would take that so fast the whole city would spin.

The comp was Jagr 2001. After Washington acquired him, the Caps GM said, “and we didn’t give up anything for him”.

Sens are not trading Stutzle for Draisaitl 1 for 1

And wow, that Sens package is significantly more than all the other packages

Not only that, Draisaitl is better than Sundin was and Stutzle is a Center and produced more at a younger age than Clark did in the highest scoring era. Plus, look all the games Clark was missing already
