Pretty sure the canes would rather have Perets than the crap show that is Campbell. Canes certainly aren’t going to take him on without compensation.

Half retained, with a better defense in front of him he has the skill to bounce back and a prospect goalie is the very low risk high reward type of move Waddell likes to make. Add to that the fact that he can be buried without waivers to decrease his cap hit by another mil and it isn't that bad of a move

These trades cripple the Habs for year to come. Campbell for 4 years, Huby for 8 years @ that salary!!! And Chicago doesn't do this either. Sorry

The only problem with that though, is that the Canes G prospect depth isn’t much after Perets. Add into that, Campbell is being paid like a starter, when he is a backup. If anything, the Canes need a starter, not someone who pretends to be one. The Canes also aren’t ones who trade away players that they have signed only a couple months prior. Nobody is giving anything of value for Campbell, especially with the term he still has.

It's half Campbell's salary and yeah Huberdeau is signed for 8 but him with Caufield and Suzuki and Dach/RNH with Slaf and Roy has the potential to be a really solid top 6

If this was an option, don't you think EDM would have done it first? Buying him out will cost more for longer so might as well retain instead. Also Carolina is a good team sure but I doubt they take such a risk for such a low reward goalie. Yeah what if hes good. What if he's bad and isn't good? That's a still a cap anchor in the minors for no reason. They have the assets to get an actual good goalie, no need to go bargain risk hunting.

Ouff on Huberdeau's massive contract....... I get Anderson is bad but its 3 more seasons only. We can stomach that. Hubie will be a Scott Gomez in 2-3 years. MTL will eat him a live and turn on him in a flash.

I would be legit pissed if the Habs made any of these moves. I think there are wayy better low risk moves to make a playoff push if they felt so inclined to be absolute donkeys and undo all the positives they're trying to do by rebuilding.

If they drop Perets and add this years first then I'd seriously consider making trade considering you can stick him in the minors and still ride with your three goalie rotation and that first is probably going to be a top 10 pick
