Montreal is not interested in Brodie, Jarnkrok, or Samsonov. Otherwise there isn't enough of interest to the Habs for them to consider the deal

This will help you relieve Allen’s contract for you to play Mont and Primeau next year. Savard only has more value because he has term left. I would think MTL gets the kids more ice time during the rebuild and a chance to tank for a good pick. You could flip Brodie, Sammy and Jarnkrok for picks/prospects at the TDL and you don’t have to worry about Allen’s and Savards contracts next year.

They arent trying to "relieve" them from the deal (and ypur trade doesnt even do that because it brings a nhl goalie back). Allen could be gone tommorow if they just wanted a minor leaguer back. They arent dumping him for nothing.

Jarnkrok has the most term in the trade it doesnt help. Monahan trade wise easily has the most value he is the best rental centre on the market.

The habs dont need a glut of 3rd-4th tier assets the need fewer higher end ones. Savard and monahan return that the rest dont.

What's with that Montreal trade.......Samsonov is better or least as good as Allen. Brodie is better than Savard. Jarnkrok is almost or just as good Monahan. So why do the Leafs give up Niemela and third also?
Can't see Tampa trading Jeannot after what they gave up for him, plus he's playing to ability this year.

I think if Sammy keeps playing the way he is now, you can get a 2nd at TDL for him and a 2nd for Brodie if you retained 50% as he is also a FA ant years end. Teams will take Jarnkrok as he is worth his 2M at TDL for probably a 3rd-5th rd pick depending on team. If you flipped all that you would have : 2nd, 2nd, 3rd(from TO), Niemela + a pick from Jarnkrok

I don’t think Sammy is as reliable as Allen. Have him for this season and next until Hildebeast is ready to join Woll. Savard has term left where Brodie doesn’t. Plus Savard is right handed and more physical. Jarnkrok is playing well but I don’t think he is as good as Monaghan which is why so added the 3rd and Niemela

Samsonov has a .886 and a negative 3 gsae he isnt returning a 2nd. Goalie dpnt have that kind of value especially ones playing poorly

Monahan with retention will be a 1st in value. He is the top C available that isnt a sign and trade which is what lindholm will be if dealt. That alone is worth more to the habs than anything in what is a pretty idealized return ypu are saying. The habs have arguably the deepest prospect pool in the league they need top assets not bulk.

Savard also being a right handed d can easily return a 2nd. He got a 1st and 3rd a couple years ago and he fits the exact mould of every dman teams try to add at the deadline and signings like holl show that even 6-7 RD get paid in free agency due to scarcity.

We all know Sammy struggled to start the year but the defence was also terrible. He has been coming back to form his last 4 starts with a shutout in his last. If he maintains this lay, he will return a 5th.
If everything flipped I think it would go like this:
Monaghan & Allen - 2nd, 2nd, Niemela
Savard - 3rd and pick from Jarnkrok (maybe Savard gets a little more here.

Again the habs dont want 3 assets for monahan they want 1. They will take less total for a better singular asset. They will trade him for the best piece offered not pieces.
