The Hawks on the other hand would have interest in Lavoie. Switch out Chiasson with Lavoie and you are a lot closer. CHI isn't going to retain on Dickinson for a 3rd and Jake Chiasson is worth next to nothing.

Hawks decline. Dickinson with retention returns a 2nd.

Yeah, attaching an AHL warm body to the 3rd round pick changes nothing. Maybe without retention this proposed deal works.

But yes, I totally agree with you about the 2nd round pick, that's an overpayment for Allen... because of his contract though. With half retained, that's another story.

Oh ok. I look at Lavoie as a guy with tons of potential. More than likely not gonna be a star. But I think he is gonna be a solid NHLer within a few years, that any team should have interest in. But, to each their own, I guess. Idk about Allen, though. I know he is playing pretty well now, but overall in recent years he has been mediocre, which probably means he comes back down to earth quite a bit. Goalie's don't tend to get much in trade either. I figured a 2nd, even with retention, is a pretty good offer, especially with Lavoie on top. So, I was kind of baffled that someone would decline.

rn Allen ain't worth that much. The 2nd year takes away from his value. Retaining in that slightly adds. Even just for retaining I'd be haply with Lavoie. But to get a 2nd too? No brainer.
