If laine is worth that to Chicago then the jackets would just cut out the middle man and get a first from them without having to take on Kuz

Basically.

Laine might be low-key available, but he’s not going to be moved at a discount to take on a “meh” Kuzy.

And, god I never thought I’d say this, but Gudbranson isn’t available? He’s having a solid season by his standards, and is good locker-room guy

I like Gudbranson (mostly) myself. He reminds me of Brooks Orpik in that he is missed only when he is gone. Caps have been soft on D ever since. Kuzy has made himself untradeable. He will be with the Caps until either his contract is up or he simply quits and leaves. Caps can gain more cap space by simply not resigning Mantha and maybe convincing Oshie (I love Oshie) to retire. So, in my opinion, Bmac first transition move was Backy LTIR'd (only got lucky there) then you will see another vet gone after this year but it won't be Kuzy. Caps need their 1st rounders more than they need Kuzy off the team I think.
