Los Angeles declines. Kaliyev is a developing third-liner and fulfills a need; Harris is a third-pairing defender and a luxury behind Anderson and Gavrikov. To put it another way, we might be interested in Harris, for a different cost, but we wouldn't be interested in trading Kaliyev.

For literally the thousandth time the Avs are a no. Stylistically Monahan is just like RyJo why in the world would COL double down on that. How about instead COL and MTL just do a swap RyJo for Monahan.

Instead of Kaliyev, what would you think about a package for PLD, he isn't playing up to his contract but still is a legitimate top 6 player. I am thinking something like Montreal's 2024 1st + Newhook + Harris. I know Newhook is currently injured but he is expected back in February and is a good middle 6 replacement with a lower cap hit that can play all 3 forward positions.

Pass PLD is a long-term bet when Kopitar is gone. He might not be putting up the numbers LA was hoping for but they are excelling in the standings with three top-6 centers. Bottom-line even with Vilardi, Iaffalo, Durzi, and Kupari gone, LA as a unit is playing better as they are currently assembled. If PLD looks bad with Arvidsson back, then I'm good to trade him but right now they are playing him with bottom-6 guys on his wing.

That's fair, was just asking what with Turcotte and Byfield both playing well and both as another top 6 center option if the Kings traded PLD maybe they considered it. Also I figured adding another top 10 draft pick would push it over the edge (I left protection off and assumed that it would be 5-10th OVA)

LA is focused on making sure they can be competitive without Kopitar once he retires or if he starts to lose a step. That is about 2 seasons from now (if not sooner), Danault will be 32 and ready to move down to the three C role (or higher if Byfield and PLD don't pan out as top-6 centers). Byfield has proven to be good enough to ice the 1st line consistently but has not had enough time in the center position. PLD is the only player in the right age group, experienced as top-6 center, and scoring prowess to be a long-term answer for a top-6 role.

This means LA will be looking for Lizzote, JAD, Turcotte, Thomas, Pinelli, Hughes, Madden, Helenius, Hughes, Conner, or a free agent can be options as bottom-6 centers.

LA doesn't need draft picks or new players, they already have options for a 3C in waiting, they have proven themselves to be patient, it's highly unlikely PLD waited until his prime age to show he's a bad player.

Since Nov. 11th:

Sean Monahan
24 games
3 goals, 7 assists, 10 points
18:09 per game

Ryan Johansen
26 games
6 goals, 3 assists, 9 points
13:13 per game

Does this mean RyJo is worth a first round pick now?

Canucks decline. They have no need for Savard, especially at the cost of one of their better prospects.

Oh God it's back from its Christmas & New Year break, and the Avs should still be saying no this year, next year and the year after that ad infinitum.

My esteemed friend @tryger has done an excellent job of addressing your idea in this thread, so the only things that I think I can contribute are:

1. I think that you have the trade value right, but
2. As both a strategic and practical matter, Los Angeles can't trade DuBois.

Again, tryger has given you the strategic reasoning; my additional point is that Blake can't trade DuBois away one season after going out and spending significant assets acquiring him. Moreover, in my experience, it takes at least 3/4 of a season for a newly-relocated player to find his footing with his new team. (Think, e.g., Jeff Skinner.)
