Trotz on the hunt for a legit top 6 center prospect

Created by: SnipeRV
Team: 2023-24 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2024
Published: Jan. 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
NSH
  1. Zegras, Trevor
Additional Details:
Need for need trade. We need C depth and I feel like the Ducks could use more scoring wingers. I think Zegras would fit in Brunette's system really well. Wood and Parssinen are two bigger guys that I could see Verbeek liking.
2.
NSH
  1. Lundell, Anton
Additional Details:
Brunette coached Lundell for his breakout season. May not have as much offensive upside as I'd home and could be too much overlap with Svechkov.
FLA
  1. Afanasyev, Egor
  2. Fabbro, Dante
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
No idea what the ask would be in return. Sending back two cost-controlled players.
3.
NSH
  1. Kasper, Marco
Additional Details:
Seems like Kasper and Danielson are redundant for you and you already have Larkin/Copp/Compher signed with term up the middle. Seems like Stevey likes Danielson a lot more, so we take the gamble on Kasper even though he is struggling in NA.
DET
  1. Fink, Aiden [Reserve List]
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (NSH)
Additional Details:
No clue what the ask is coming back but I know Stevey likes his 2nd rounders. Preds sell high on Fink who's top 10 in scoring in NCAA as a freshman.
4.
NSH
  1. Kulich, Jiri
Additional Details:
You already have Tage/Cozens/Middlestadt/Krebs up the middle and are stacked with undersized forwards in Benson/Kulich/Savoie/Ostlund. Not sure who all out of this group ends up at C in the NHL but I'll take a stab at Kulich first.

Danielson and Kasper are hardly redundant, Copp and Compher can be moved to the wing rather easily. As far as Kasper struggling he's coming off a broken knee cap and it takes time to get over those kinds of injuries. Grand Rapids has won 5 games in a row and Kasper is one of the reasons why. Detroit has zero interest in a 5/9" 153 lb winger.

All four teams decline. You might rehabilitate the Anaheim deal by adding your 2024 first, but the other offers are beyond reasonable help.

You think a 26 year old AHL player gets you Kulich?

Ignoring all the guess work you did on Yzerman's value of Kasper, there's 0 chance you're getting a 20 year old 9th overall pick for a guy drafted in the 7th round and a 2nd.

Why not? He already thinks 2 of the Red Wings best prospects are redundant. 🙄

lol dude you are triggered. Point was you have a ton of centers signed for a while. Not saying you guys don't want Kasper, just saying he would be getable.

I 100% guarantee Fink's value is greater than a 7th rounder today, but I'm sure we would be happy to pay more. This is classic case of overvaluing your own prospects and not appropriately valuing others.

Explain how I'm overvaluing the 9th overall pick when you offered scraps in each and every one of the trades you made here.

If Fink is so good, why are you trying to trade him less than a year after drafting him?

This is literally the first season Novak has stayed in the NHL. He's 26 and put up worse numbers in the same league as the teenager you are trying to trade for. Kulich isn't on the table for most deals, especially this trash can offer.

I know the Red wings haven't made the playoffs in 7 years and Stevey is getting anxious. Holl, Chiarot, Petry, Copp reallllly not working out for him.

Yea I think we would need to add there. But idk why you think Kulich is untouchable.

Because that's how valuable he currently is to the org. He should be playing on the Sabres currently.

Your logic for Detroit trading Kasper or Danielson is flawed and the return isn't even close. If I said Nashville has both Saros and Askarov so they should trade Askarov to Detroit for Sam Strange and a 2nd.

No idea how this fanbase is so delusional. Yes, I get we would need to add to Kulich. But you guys thought Eichel was untouchable for a while too lol. Missing playoffs 10 years in a row! I don't think you should be talking too much about untouchable.

Lol having Saros and Askarov definitely makes trading one of them more appealing so that part doesn't make sense. But yes, we would want a solid return coming back. If your point is the return isn't good enough then you should have led with that and provided an acceptable one.

The entire NHL knows Stevey Y started a really, really solid rebuild and over the last 1-2 years has started to get desperate.

Nice strawman argument. The Sabres missing the playoffs means nothing here. I don't think anybody is untouchable, I've seen Gretzky get traded, but you are offering basically nothing.

Brutal

Every team here is trading away players they have used some really high draft picks on. Why doesn't Nashville have to do that?

Contrary to your personal beliefs, there is no redundancy. There is also no “anxious” playoff desperation. SY is simply bringing in stop gaps and using free agency to bandaid issues until the prospects are ready. As they improve, it attracts more signature signings/trades (Kane, Cat) to speed up the process.

Having 2, two-way centers to platoon behind Larkin opens up a lot of opportunity, Compher and Copp move to the wings, giving cushion for the young guns to grow into the roles while also helping with a 200ft game.

@SnipeRV, they’re correct- we are very unlikely to trade Kulich
ESPECIALLY NOT for a 3C
That’s just stupid to even suggest

U wanna start talking about for Saros- then MAYBE
But even then, we’d be moving a prospect(s) other than Kulich
He’s just not gonna get moved
