Oh i know the Goalie market is going to be insanely high, There's already reportedly teams talking to Yzerman about Alex Lyon. And if i'm Yzerman because he's the cheapest goalie on the market with one year left. I'm not dealing him for anything that's not substantial. Goalies like Merzlikins, Gibson and Markstrom are going to have a tough time moving just because of their cap hits. Very few teams can take on that kind of salary.

Swayman, Oetter, Shesterkin, Sorokin, Demko, Wallstedt.

Markstrom at 50%=1st+2nd+3rd
Hanifin at full price: 1st+3rd
Mercer: 2 1sts+2nd

My valuation of Markstrom is that if he hit UFA he’d get a deal at around 5.5x3

At 3 years that’s 7.5 mill in surplus value 50% retained. Or a 1st+2nd approximately

Mercer if he hit UFA today I think would get something like 8 mill x 7 years from a team

He costs 900k this year and if we were to sign him to a 6 year deal we could probably get him around 5 mill bc of our RFA control.

That’s in my estimation 25 mill in surplus value. Or if you’re more conservative and think as a UFA he’d get 7x7. That’s 18 mill in surplus value. Even if you think he’d only get 6.5 mill if he were to hit the open market that’s still 14.5 mill in value.

The value of productive ELCs is simply too massive imo

Here’s how I project the value of Markstrom to play out:

Remainder of this year: 8.5 million (elite goalie)
Next year: 4 million (average starter)
Final year: 3 million (1B/backup)

Overall 15.5 million over 3 years
