TB has won 8 of its last 12 Vasilevskiy is rounding back to his normal standards. Tampa Bay won't be selling Cirelli

I don't think the Sabres are going to move Mittelstadt, but if they do I'm gonna say the price is your 2024 1st, and one of McGroarty/Barlow/Lucius with preference in that order. I know the Sabres were linked to McGroarty through the whole draft process and we all expected him to be the pick at 14 if he was on the board but Winnipeg scooped him two picks earlier and they took Ostlund.

Hard to see Caps trading Strome unless the offer is crazy good.

True but they are in cap hell and need to figure out some sort of relief. Not saying it has to be Cirelli, but 2 seasons from now his NTC kicks in so maybe they try to get a head of it??

The Sabres are in a weird spot with Mittelstadt, it makes since to move him at the deadline, but at this point they need to move him for NHL talent, not futures. However, the only teams that would want Mittelstadt at the the deadline will want to trade futures because they are in the hunt and want to add to their NHL talent not take away from it.

Why would they want forwards when they have glaring holes at D and an abundance of forwards

I don't think that Henrique really moves the dial for us, I don't think he's a big enough improvement over Namestnikov at 2c to be worth acquiring. Even if Anaheim retains half, what do we use the extra cap space for? I don't see us making a big move on the blueline, and we don't need anyone on the wings, so I think the move for the Jets is to make a big add at 2c, regardless of what the acquisition cost is.

Henrique is a natural centerman who play on the wings.

With the cap going up and Lilleberg ,Thompson and Declan all NHL ready on ECL's on the blueline. Groshev as a foward on his next year and a NHL ready Gonclaves just coming off it they'll be fime

I don't really see any D from Winnipeg that I'm super excited about. The thing with McGroarty is he provides a lot of stuff that the team needs. Good board work and not afraid to go to the dirty areas without sacrificing offensive talent. And all situations. Really responsible defensively and a good PK guy.

Declan Chisholm and Ville Heinola are both very solid defensive prospects that will factor in somewhere for years to come. The Jets kind of don't have room, especially if they're swinging for it, but if the Sabres need cost-controlled, team-controlled defencemen, the Jets have an abundance.

Not only are they both lefties, they're both looking like career minor leaguers

They both play both sides.

Also, last year Jack Han compared Declan Chisholm to Devon Toews. https://twitter.com/JhanHky/status/1533908475952001024

Both are going to be solid play driving defencemen who factor in on the power play in a big way for whatever team they're playing for. I'm actually worried that if the Jets trade one of them they could end up with egg on their face in a similar way that NYI did after the Toews trade. that said, the Jets really don't have room on their blueline, and are trying to compete, so I'm open to trading one if the return is right.

From Dobberprospects:

Heinola: An offense-minded defenseman with top-four upside who can run a powerplay unit. An excellent skater but needs to get stronger to improve in the defensive zone.

Chisholm: A left-shot defenseman with great offensive instincts. An intelligent decision-maker who skates well with the puck and consistently starts a rush with exceptional outlet passes—projects as a third-pairing defenseman with a middle-pairing upside that will contribute offensively and produce on a powerplay unit.

Having seen both play, I'm actually higher on Chisholm based on what i've seen at the NHL level, but believe who you will. Jets prospects are consistently undescouted as evidenced by the athletic having Cole Perfetti ranked #63 in their 'under 23' rankings behind guys like Matt coronato and Danila yurov

I forgot about him but he definitely doesn't carry the value that McGroarty does.
I'd still rather look at NHL ready Dmen than prospects at this point since the rest of the core is here (contract-wise).

Doesn't matter as Buffalo has their own Left shot D - 4 in the NHL with 2 more in the pipeline. They're already playing Dahlin and Power on their off hand. They need right shot guys
