Description

Marino is alright overall but I guess I'm getting similar fatigue from him as Pens fans got around 2 years ago. Dude's slumping kinda hard and disappearing for long-stretches. Better than keeping him around for the duration of his contract is to consider moving him this offseason before his trade value takes too big a hit.

Fitzy should be able to get a fair bit better of a return than Hextall got for Marino - Ty Smith + 3rd.
If the GMs around the league still consider Marino a 2nd pair RHD in the offseason he should probably be able to go for a pick in the 15 - 25 range, so that's around where I'd value him.
Then there's the hockey trade route, to trade Marino to some team in need of a mid 20s RHD with term but have other excesses of interest to the Devils.

I wouldn't be interested in the Devils getting another RHD back however as I believe Seamus Casey has developed more than enough to crush 3rd pairing minutes with the Devils from 24-25 and onward. RHD corps moving forward being Hamilton - Nemec - Casey

I see a fit here. RHD seems to be a weakness for this Buffalo team that kinda has to start competing for the playoffs given the talent on their roster. Sabres seem to have an excess of forward prospects in their pipeline and not enough roster spots to go around.

I can't see anyone giving up a 1st for him, especially if trading is based off of trying to get rid of him rather than multiple interested parties actively pursuing him

Hofer is presumably not available. And the Blues two best Dmen are RDs, including the one who's far and away the best Blues Dman. They want to revamp the left side, and presumably not with any more small Dmen (though Marino is about as good defensively as a small Dman gets).

Wait a year…Casey could need some AHL time. If he is ready right away, great.

But if we did sell Marino…Mittelstadt would be the interesting name there to me.
