Kevin Bahl, Graeme Clarke, 2024 3rd for Tanev with no retention. Would you do that?

Pretty sure you can't LTIR a guy without doctor's records showing a player is too injured to play.

Considering it’s bit of a better offer than the Vancouver offer. Yes. Would like to think Flames get a bit more value than what I have, solely because of a potential bidding war for Tanev

I probably wouldn’t do that. That leaves Luke as our only healthy NHL quality LHD. For Tanev unretained just send a 2nd and be done with it

Also, how is Colorado signing Lindholm to an extension? Landeskog is starting to skate again and will definitely give the NHL another shot next season, meaning Colorado won't know if they have his LTIR money until the start of the season.

Clearing $3.85m of Byram doesn't create enough space for $7m+ of Lindholm. They do have to ice a team.

You aren't even taking RyJo back lol

Honestly was trying to delete him completely off the roster due to the situation. But just put him there because I didn’t really know what his position gets put under

Lindholm will likely not top north than 6.5m. More a fun deal based off of rumours. I’m sure could figure out cap logistics to get a 2C

The original report on Siegenthaler was he’d be out 4-6 weeks so you’d have to imagine he’ll be back soon. Can’t imagine Smith will be out much longer as well

Get real, Lindholm’s value is less than it was 25 games ago and COL wouldn’t have done it then. Easy no

I would assume there is some mechanism in the CBA for teams that lose guys for off ice reasons I mean beyond terminating contracts for reason.

He's been purported to ask for $9.5M but the Avs can't afford anything over $3M; yes, I'm serious. For the Avs, LIndy is a rental, period; which makes the juice not worth the squeeze.

Mangiapane's scored at a 44 point pace going back to the beginning of last season and has done a ton of work to make that 35 goal season look like a real fluke. I don't see how he's worth a 1st and a 3rd with *that* cap hit - not to mention, there's no way for the Islanders to take that money on without sending you most of it back.

Is Lindholm REALLY a 9.5 mil player?

He put up big numbers with Gaudreau and Tkachuk but that was what 2 years ago?

Now it's like he wants to be paid like those 2 players are still riding shotgun to him.

There is not. The cap hits stay. But teams get the roster spot…so it’s like regular IR.

i'm too lazy to look at the CBA again but I assume there's some sort of mechanism to terminate the contract with no cap penalty if a player violates a team's personal conduct policy, no?

“With extension” is not something that improves the return when selling rentals in-season. That sometimes happens with trades in off-season…but extremely rare at this point. So there will be one price for guys like Lindholm, Hanifin. Not a rental price…and then higher, “with extension” price.

They are placed in a “non-roster” bucket where the cap it still counts but the roster spot can be reclaimed (although they still count against number of contracts). So, in effect, it operates the same as regular IR.

Devils were forced to put Dougie on LTIR in order to ice a full team. That is a move that will cost us $2m+ on next years cap due to overage carryover.

There is no cause to unilaterally terminate a contract yet. I imagine the NHLPA and the league have pre-negotiated this (ie if and when they can be terminated without PA appealing). But until then, it is what it is.

I don't believe he is. He'll probably have to come off that ask quite a bit, especially considering his season so far. Maybe he turns it around after he gets traded, lights it up in the playoffs and gets his value back up but I think anyone that signs him at more than $7x7 is crazy. But, for the Avs, it doesn't matter; they can't afford anything near that.
