Carolina laughs at you hard. Didn't want Hanifin when we traded him to you, now you want NIKISHIN for him? That's comical, get out of here

The VCR-CGY trade seems reasonable.
I think CGY might want a prospect and a player named Nils Hoglander.
Does that work?

its possible they do that as well, i just think if they have the choice between what you said or a 1st they would just take a pick. another thing to consider is if you guys need cap space ian cole (not sure what you guys value him) but flames could add him for a young prospect/ maybe nils hoglander... all rough sketch to much brain power to work out how that trade would value out!

for a TW centre with an extension and adds a pack a punch in your playoff push? not to mention jets are projected to go to the WCF, how come you dont want to lambert out for an opportunity you only get once and a while lol?

I don't blame you for wanting Lambert, but he would be untouchable unless the offer for him was great. Here is an article by Murat Ates (Jets beat writer for the Athletic) that outlines Jets prospects' "availability."

I have a feeling that Lambert for Lindholm would only be possible if the deal came with a team-favourable extension (not the 8 years he wants). Even then, I doubt both Lambert and a 1st round pick would be included, even with retention.

There is also this article (again from the Athletic) that outlined possible packages for Lindholm, with the Jets' package being a 2024 1st, Chaz Lucius, and Mason Appleton.

Edit: obviously we can agree that that package is nowhere near the actual price, but I think it kinda solidifies that Lucius is the prospect the Jets are willing to part with. I'm okay with Lucius + a 1st + pretty much any other draft pick this year (maybe a roster player, but I'm hesitant on trading Appleton.

It's not that I don't want to, it's that Winnipeg won't. It's not their MO.

When was the last time Winnipeg 2.0 traded a top prospect for an older player? I can't think of a time, so it almost certainly won't happen now.

Ian Cole signed a contract for 1 year for $3M.
Maybe Ian Cole to CGY might work, but VCR needed him, especially in the post-season.

That Devils trade is crazy, cant see the Devils doing that unless there was some retention on Markstrom.

Murat isn't paying attention if he thinks the Jets would trade Appleton, seems extremely unlikely they'd trade Lowry's rw even if he's fairly meh, just doesn't seem like a Chevy move.

-Hanifin feels like a bad fit for the Hurricanes - who sits out of their LHD depth chart of Orlov/Skjei/Slavin if you add Hanifin to the roster? I mean, even if you want to push a guy to his offhand their RHD are Burns/Pesce/Chatfield - at best, you're upgrading Chatfield, which means you're paying a top prospect *and* a 1st to upgrade your third pair if you're the Canes. Doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

-I think you have to look at the Horvat trade as a comp here, especially if you're pencilling in a Lindholm extension. Horvat brought back a 1st, Aatu Raty, and Anthony Beauvillier last year when he was a) two years younger than Lindholm is now and b) was in the middle of a much more successful campaign. I think you have to seriously downgrade Lambert as the prospect here and also take back whatever cap ballast the Jets want to send your way (my first guess would be a guy like Mason Appleton but Jets fans can correct me if there's a better forward to send back.)

-I don't hate the value but I have zero idea where you expect the Islanders to fit Mangiapane's $5.8M cap hit. The only non-NTC cap hits they can move right now is Casey Cizikas, and I don't think the Flames would want to eat 4x$2.5M of a 4th line C to move Mangiapane's 2x$5.8M.

-I feel like a 1st for Tanev is a little spicy; I think with his age/production you're probably more likely to get a 2nd and a mid-tier prospect for him.

-I'll defer to Devils fans on this but I think I take it. Casey looks like a strong prospect, sure, but the Devils have Dougie Hamilton, Jonas Siegenthaler, and John Marino all signed through at least 2026-27 along with Simon Nemec & Luke Hughes seemingly locked in for the next 5-6 years - in short, he's expendable. Holtz just seems to get lost in the shuffle, and getting back the 2nd while upgrading Vanecek into Markstrom feels like a good move to me.

Plus the fact that Alexander Nikishin is the best defenseman in the third-best league in the world... Like the deal is just a massive overpayement

Just for clarification, the first article is a Jets-centric article by Murat Ates. The second article is some sort of trade prediction article involving 6 teams who should be interested in Lindholm and written by Corey Pronman and Julian MacKenzie.

Murat wasn't suggesting to trade any roster players (other than Stanley, obviously) in his article.

I don't think Tanev will fetch a 1st (maybe he would have if the Canucks had shopped him when he was in his late 20s.

Also that's way too much for Markstrom

I think Cap wise it would be Kuzmenko or maybe Myers going back the other direction. Doubt Calgary are interested in doing that for Tanev, probably for Lindholm

Three requests on Markstrom

1. Take out the 2nd round pick coming to NJ and replace with as much retention as you can muster.

2. Take out Holtz

3. Add pick from NJD (which one depends on number supplied in #1).
