-Hanifin feels like a bad fit for the Hurricanes - who sits out of their LHD depth chart of Orlov/Skjei/Slavin if you add Hanifin to the roster? I mean, even if you want to push a guy to his offhand their RHD are Burns/Pesce/Chatfield - at best, you're upgrading Chatfield, which means you're paying a top prospect *and* a 1st to upgrade your third pair if you're the Canes. Doesn't make a ton of sense to me.
-I think you have to look at the Horvat trade as a comp here, especially if you're pencilling in a Lindholm extension. Horvat brought back a 1st, Aatu Raty, and Anthony Beauvillier last year when he was a) two years younger than Lindholm is now and b) was in the middle of a much more successful campaign. I think you have to seriously downgrade Lambert as the prospect here and also take back whatever cap ballast the Jets want to send your way (my first guess would be a guy like Mason Appleton but Jets fans can correct me if there's a better forward to send back.)
-I don't hate the value but I have zero idea where you expect the Islanders to fit Mangiapane's $5.8M cap hit. The only non-NTC cap hits they can move right now is Casey Cizikas, and I don't think the Flames would want to eat 4x$2.5M of a 4th line C to move Mangiapane's 2x$5.8M.
-I feel like a 1st for Tanev is a little spicy; I think with his age/production you're probably more likely to get a 2nd and a mid-tier prospect for him.
-I'll defer to Devils fans on this but I think I take it. Casey looks like a strong prospect, sure, but the Devils have Dougie Hamilton, Jonas Siegenthaler, and John Marino all signed through at least 2026-27 along with Simon Nemec & Luke Hughes seemingly locked in for the next 5-6 years - in short, he's expendable. Holtz just seems to get lost in the shuffle, and getting back the 2nd while upgrading Vanecek into Markstrom feels like a good move to me.
