It will cost the jackets a pick to move Peeke, not getting a pick for him...he is a league minimum player making 2.75 mil...and you have Niemela in the deal too! Crazy talk!

No one wants peeke, except tampa maybe. I hear they're gonna give up an entire draft for him

For free, the Hawks would probably take on Laine to see if he has chemistry w/ Bedard.

Totally agree, the FC would have to be Columbus gets nothing in return. Laine while being a great talent has been very inconsistent in his career, a coach killer considering how much cap space he eats up vs. his production, GAS meter and off ice issues.

Columbus isn't giving Laine away for free. If he wants a fresh start and asks for a trade, I'm sure we'd move him for not a whole lot, but everything indicates it's not the team that's causing problems for him, and no reason he'd want out. Besides, Columbus, like the Hawks, can easily take his cap hit still, and give him top-line minutes. Not sure what the appeal would be besides "plays with a different teenager".

Peeke is a FC giveaway/waivers claim if anyone wants to take a chance, he's never going to be worth that cap hit. But, again, Columbus isn't pressed to pay to move him or give him away for free; he can sit in the pressbox for the next 194 games for all we care.

If it were a 2024 2nd it's basically a first, but I don't see any reason for Columbus to add more D-men.

Sure to the Calgary deal, but I don't think they add a starter unless they also move Vladar. Makes more sense to run Wolf-Vladar next year (or even the rest of this year) and sign a veteran fringe-backup/waivers-exempt/AHL-NHL tweener 3G.

Interesting. I lean toward CBJ having to pay to move his contract. But I guess I could be wrong. It's not like he has a ton of term. He gets us to the cap floor and, if he bounces back, he is young enough to be a long term piece OR could be traded to add to CHI's pool of assets. So, I see the logic in taking him for free. But that is a lot of free cap relief for a team that has fleeced CHI multiple times in the last 10 years and a player that has been MASSIVELY underperforming on his MASSIVE AAV.

It would be a 1st ++ for Ferraro. Think half the value of Timo who got: a 1st, 2nd with conditions to be a 1st, a high end prospect, a very good young roster player, and a decent young roster player.

I think Ferraro got so talked up the first couple years so much that people have gone the complete opposite way and think he's not a good player at all. He's been incredible this season (relative to what a single player can do in this dumpster fire team) and that's not accounting for a very good contract, and incredible leadership qualities

But yeah, Ferraro isn't someone Columbus should be looking to acquire in the first place
