A bit much for Saros. I'd take a 1st, Kochetkov, and Nadeau

WAY too much for Saros. Neither Nikishin or Necas is going to be involved for that deal and you put both????? Are you eligible for the NHL Player Assistance Program for Substance abuse?

Holy hell the delusion that is that first trade. Since when did Saros become prime Brodeur? Cause if a .902 s% and 3.02 GAA is worth all that, I can’t wait to see Raanta be moved for a similar package as this one.

That's an overpayment as well... he's a goalie it would probably be more in the realm of a 1st, Drury, mid-level prospect

If that is the offer, then Trotz just resigns Saros instead. NSH is under no pressure to move him now. Saros is still a top goalie in the league, despite his bad season. In a different system he would likely be back to his old self. NSH is likely looking for a 1st, and a prospect who can top pair RD or top 6 C, and either another pick or mid-level prospect. If CAR wants him it's likely going to be a 1st, Nadeau, and a 3rd/mid-prospect or a 1st, 2nd, and Morrow.

NSH would probably be willing send another pick or retain salary if Nadeau is the prospect sent over.

That's an insane offer for a goalie... there's a reason that they don't get much in returns and that's because the position is absolute voodoo... and your not gonna get a promising top-6/top-4 prospect for a goalie that is having a bad season.

I've got zero interest in Kochetkov. Swap him out for Morrow, and I'd take it.

I feel like you just threw in “undersized” as if that has anything to do with him having a career .917 lol.

package above is a lot but don’t just throw in words that have no meaning

I mean a 34 year old Markstrom almost returned Holtz and a first lol. Only reason it fell through was because of retention

There’s no way Carolina does the original deal in this post, but don’t entertain this guy. His argument is that Saros isn’t good. He’s the main reason the Preds have been competing for the playoffs the past two or three years. Prior to this year, his worst season save % is .914. Saros is at .902 this year playing behind one of the worst defensive groups in the NHL. Carolina’s best goalie with more than 3 games played is at .905 playing behind one of the leagues best defensive groups. Carolina fans saying Saros is just another goalie need to recall what happened last year in the playoffs.

It’s crazy that even Saros’ down year isn’t even that bad. It’s not his fault our second best defenseman is a geriatric Ryan McDonagh. Saros would have a .925 behind the Canes D core.

Yeah, the package above is too much. I’d still take a 1st+Nadeau

I would do 1st + Nadeau for Saros which probably means it's a bit light lol.

That being said I don't think you can just plug in goalies and say oh their save pct would be x because y team is better at defense. It can be really tough for a goalie to go 6-7 minutes without facing a shot and then a grade A chance is the first thing they see. I do think that Saros would've helped the Canes earlier in the season when Raanta was letting in some softies, but as the Canes are also pretty firmly in the playoffs (for now, anything can happen of course), I'm not sure that having Saros instead would make a huge difference to the team this year.

You mean the series they lost by 1 goal each game, including a 4 OT game and Anderson had 1.76 GAA/60? I think it can both be true that Bob goalied the Canes in the playoffs and a better goalie in net during that series still doesn't push Carolina to the SCF.

Saros stands on his head whenever our D core completely collapses (spoiler: a lot). behind a team with one of the best d cores in the league he’d be a monster. i’d genuinely put a TON of money on the Canes finally winning a cup if he’s between the pipes.

Why would Edmonton (or anyone) give up a pick for Raanta? If you need the cap space you'll have to pay someone to take him.

I don't disagree, but just for perspective for Saros to put up a .925 save percentage on the Canes this season he would also have a 1.875 GAA, which would be the third best season from any goalie post lockout. Again, I really like Saros, and would pay more than your suggested price of 1st + Nadeau, he would make a great starter, I just don't think he would put up Vezina caliber save percentages on the Canes (and for what it's worth he really wouldn't have to).
