There's no incentive for Winnipeg to do that

Calgary certainly won't be doing what the title says. Retaining salary on a Hanifin extension. You can't extend a player and then retain on the exiting contract without extending on the extension too. You can however trade a player without an extension and leave it up the acquiring team to sign him to the extension with the extension pre-arranged. You can't make a trade conditional on a player extending after the trade though.

Bruins could certainly use Hanafin… would it take more than Lohrei Lysell and 1st rounder?

You may have misunderstood. Calgary retains on the current contracts not the extension as such a thing is not possible. But by retaining half of the current contract gives Boston the cap space to have him for a solid cup run.
The Winnipeg trade is a depth move for cap space. Kupari does not seem to be performing in Winnipeg and Forbort is a Veteran they could use for a cup push.

I think Calgary would accept that the minute it was offered. They'd probably take a bit less, you could replace Lysell with something else Calgary can use right away.

if it happens i'll be here chuckling that it got the haul we've seen for the last two decades, and not some unprecedented amount you're expecting. i suspect you'll either be suspiciously quiet, or deflect as to how lohrei and a second rounder was really what you were suggesting all along.

55 point d man? what universe are you in? he's never hit 50 points. he's only hit 40 points once.

chiarot got a conditional first and a bad prospect. actually more of a nothing prospect given that he's in the ECHL and struggling.

what i've said this entire team is teams don't trade their top prospects with a first round pick for a deadline rental. i'm asking you to provide one comparable, and you seemingly can't provide an instance of this happening in the NHL, and are for some reason convinced its a lock that it happens now.

Hanifin is 27 yrs old,and a ufa how often does that happen.he plays big minutes and will end up with 50 55 pts.he is a comparable to Hampus Lindholm and what did he bring.and dont bother telling me Lindholm is better because hes not.there very compareable.

happens all the time.

give me one comp (lindholm does not work for a bunch of reasons, but one of them is that they didn't give up a top prospect and a first). just find me one comp. one.

also, fyi, there's supposed to be a space after punctuation.
