They do in deadline cap, or retain. You're still not getting a 1st from Carolina so it doesn't matter

Canes aren’t interested in paying a 1st for a rental. After the retention on Lyubushkin, Canes have about 6mil in deadline accrued cap space to play with.

Bruins offense is so limited, I just don't see them trading Debrusk, their top offensive prospect, and their only chance of drafting a center for yet another dman. The value isn't THAT far off, but this is a baaaad move for the B's.

I hope they don't get one lmao. No point in going all in for a cup run without a true 1c. I say stand pat and just see what round they make it to, then address weaknesses in the offseason.

Canes have the cap space to not include Fast. I don't see why the Canes or Sens would want him included in the trade. I think a 1st is fair for Tarasenko, I know it's no the Canes MO to do trades like that for rentals but maybe they think about extending him. Who knows

That could mean so many things. they could be looking for a depth LD for a 5th round pick. I think you took some very vague things that friedman said, slapped "Elliotte Friedman," on the title, and made a ton of large assumptions with zero context.

Firsts are highly valuable regardless of where they are in a round, so while they aren't going to be a number one picks, they are still worth a lot.
IMO it doesn't matter if they're 1st overall or 32nd, Chychrun isn't worth the equivalent of three of them.

I'd take 12th OA + 2nd + 2nd over DeBrusk, Lysell and Boston's 1st next year, easily
