Blues declines ofc.
Not a great offer for Buffalo aswell, so they say no.
In short, these trades are way to lopsided in the Jets favor to work out, in my opinion.

Blue won't retain half for 7 years, but they are reportedly willing to retain on Buchnevich
WPG will have to pay a hefty price for a team to take on the Schmidt contract
I don't see how the Buffalo trade makes this team better?

STL isn't retaining for 7 years, so count Parayko is out. Might be something there for Buch, but still a lot to work out.

BUF trade makes WPG absolutely worse. Trading Iafallo and Stanley for guys you're gonna healthy scratch anyway, what's the point? EJ and Okposo do nothing for WPG.

Schmidt is worth more to WPG than a... 7th?

Have you watched any Jets games at all this year?

Sabres say yes, but you’re overpaying
U could have each of them for mid round picks

Seriously, how does anyone hit submit on this abject dog****? The Jets are going to need to shop elsewhere. This store is closed to you.

You'd have to pay CHI to take Schmidt.

Chicago isn't giving up picks to help Winnipeg with their cap space.

Sabres agree.
Actually, if the Jets are in a win now mode that is a good trade for both teams.
For the Jets:
Stanley has only played 7 games since the beginning of the season so he is spending a lot of time in the press box, while Johnson would add playoff experience even if he only practiced with the team.
Iafallo has not worked out as well as expected IMO and Okposo is out producing him comparing per 60 minutes: Goals 0.9 v 0.5, Pts 1.7 v.1.2 and Hits 4.3 v 1.7.
Remember Okposo is playing fourth line minutes and may still reach 15 to 16 goals.
That production from a fourth liner is money in the bank. Let's not undersell his value.

For the Sabres:
Alex gets to move back to his place of birth, he is younger than Kyle and he may bring the same energy that Tuch did playing for his home town team.
Stanley is a huge LHD, large players take longer to develop, and defensemen take even longer.
Granato likes to put large players on the PK, so while Buffalo is over loaded with LHD, he may fit Don's mold.

Over all:
The Jets make this deal to win today, the Sabres make this deal to win next season.

Iafallo may not be scoring as much this year, but it's likely due to him playing all over place to cover for injuries. He's so versatile, great defensively and already knows the system. I'd rather keep him than trade for either or both of EJ and Okposo's potential 15 to 16 goals.

Iafallo might be a little overpaid,
but he’s not a “Cap dump” quality player- he still has value imo

Players making more than they are worth and are traded; are by definition a cap dump.

Disagree
A “cap dump” is a player that a team needs to move to create Cap Space

That’s not Iafallo
