That’s a bit cherry-picking stats, Caufield and Slafkovsky have so many more assists and points than McMann and are on better point paces than McMann

And? McMann also played 4rth line minutes for half the games... So it makes sense as to why Caufield and Slaf have more assists....

So by your own logic, you should be concerned that Marner has less goals than Jake Neighbours, Bryan Rust, JJ Peterka, Blake Coleman, Nick Suzuki, etc?

I like Mitch Marner cause he breaks stats.

His pdo will always be super high and it has nothing to do with puck luck, he’s just able to get much more out of situations than his peers, and it overcomes the natural bad luck that occurs for all. His shooting % will always be way high, not because he has a goat shot, but because he’s so well rounded that he creates opportunities in all directions.

Yes... If Marner was a pure goal scorer like Caufield or if one of those players was an undrafted rookie playing 4rth line and Marner was a 1rst OA pick in his 2nd year

And TBF;

Who's scarier: a wide open lane for a Mitch Marner shot or a wide open lane for an Auston Matthews shot?

If NJ acquired him in January, they're In the playoffs. Habs fans have been saying he's a good goalie forever

Yeah. trades are tough to make I get that 110%!
But interesting, and puzzling, that Tom F couldn't get something done earlier for a young, talented club that was playing well.
He's been a good GM thus far, would of been great for them to get playoff reps!

So Friedman said on 32 thoughts he thinks Necas will be moved for cap reasons in the offseason

Also Pesce has rejected multiple contract offers so is probs going to FA

Skeji is undecided

Chatfield is in talks

Honestly Carolina....Just buyout KK lul

Gives you the cap space and u dont need him, cause if teams know your trading someone for cap reasons offers be lower

People criticized me for saying Allen - Kaapo were the best acquisitions for the teams that needed a goalie.

The leafs coulda used Allen and imo it will come back to bite them. Also, Allen will retire and immediately become a NHL coach/ performance/ skills coach for goalies as well.

I mean Caufield is not a sniper anymore, he's a well rounded offensive player now, most Habs fans are very happy with Slaf and Caufield's production, Caufield's been scoring less than expected but he's shattered his record in assist and has made up for the lack of goals elsewhere. McMann, like Hyman and Bunting before him is a solid complimentary player, it's just a bad choice to compare players who are in totally different situation and pick their goal totals as a incomplete reflection of the players

Caufield's a shooter, that's what he's being paid 8 mill to do... He might be a solid playmaker (from the Leafs-Has game, it doesn't look like he sees the ice well, but that might just be the 2 recent games) and his defensive game is bad...

As for Slaf, I like the kid but he's not as good as Habs fans seem to think... the one thing I will add, he did look like the 3rd best player on the ice which is good (Behind Primeau and Suzuki). He's got potential, but just like McMann, he's a supporting cast player, kind of like a Domi level (but with better goal scoring)

Only by per game. Per 60 is where it's at and Bobby reigns supreme!

McMann >>

Case closed

Guys leg almost came right off. He's not gonna be back until October unless it's in a super limited role.

Matthews matches Ovie's 07-08 season

5 more to 70 and 1 more and he has the most goals in a season in the modern era (since 2000)

For Marner, you don’t know what he’s going to do, but it’s a pretty good bet Matthews will shoot it.
Even a Matthews shot through traffic from the point is lethal, he got his 65th 3 seconds into a Leafs PP

I think both those guys were out final min so I can kind of get it. But considering all the other guys they have it kind of made 0 sense

Bunting, Smith, Rakell, Rust, etc. Guess he dont like em

But that's what I'm saying... You've got to respect the Matthews shot which gives Marner time and space to be effective

It’s interesting how duos are so prevalent in sport, especially the hard cap nhl:

Mcdavid and drai, Crosby and Malkin, matthews and Marner. Now with Chicago picking super low, looks like they could possibly find bedards bro.

Mackinnon/Makar

Petey/Hughes

Kucherov+Stone/IR

All duos work somewhat

So I gotta ask: do we think Papi will score 70? He’s got to score 5 goals in 4 games. I’m going to say yes but it’s obviously not a guarantee and I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t get 70 either.

In stl we did Hull and Oates, then Oates wanted to renegotiate for a third time, 6 months after his last renegotiation. (Was 29y/o, so many years remained). So we stopped the duo because $/greed.

Macinnis and Pronger were too far apart in age, and also we traded pronger. That would have been a pair for the ages, the little time they had was absurd.

So we’ve never really done the duo thing like the rest of yall. We had to deal with Toews Kane, and now maybe Bedard MysteryPerson.

TBF, ROR-Tank was a good duo for a few years...
