Why does Vegas trade the two best playes in the trade?
Kings can do much better for 6m than Markstrom and not give up so much.

Take away Turcotte and the 1st, and still no. Markstrom just doesn't fit for LA.

Hawks probably decline. They aren't giving up a highly regarded prospect for one season of Mangiapane.

Markstrom has a 6m cap hit that comes with a 2.5m signing bonus that the team he is on has to pay essentially making him an 8.5m goaltender. No team in the league is going to pay to take on Markstrom at that kind of cap hit, even at 50% retained he is still a 5.5m goaltender at 35yrs old for 2 seasons. So the Flames are going to have a retained at least half to get any sort of interest and even then they would have to sell him low or to a team with a ton of cap space.

Not a very useful prospect for MTL due to the plentiful of LDs we have, but he's pretty decent. We likely accept, but possibly push to trade the COL 2024 2nd instead of the 2025 2nd

I’m not saying the value is far off, but am saying Davidson doesn’t entertain that proposal. That is not his MO at present.
