Steady rebuild - MN trade

Description
Looking at Minnesota, They have a good RD with Spurgeon and Faber, but it's looking week on the LD and they don't have a good LHD PMD.

PLUS, they are tight with the cap, but still want to compete.

With Matheson at the hight of his value, it could be wise to trade him out (even if I think he could stick around an extra year and it wouldn't hurt).

With a Top 15 pick OR Yurov, MN could probably make an enticing offer to KH for Matheson.

They already have Evans and seems like than Monahan can come back to MTL this summer.

What is that worth on a team that's 26th in the league and has a -46 goal differential? He's not even close to Brodin.

Lol Matheson CLEARS Brodin and Middleton come on brother! Matheson has more points than both of them combined, plays 25min a game and on the PP, decent defensively (the tradeoff in offense v. Defense is VERY GOOD) and great in transition.

AND he is paid 4.8M$.

He would MASSIVELY improve your LHD overnight. and all it cost you is a first round pick between 12 and 16.

The guy had 34pts in 48 games last season,

Now he's got 47pts in 65 (thats a 59 pts pace)

You know damn well Matheson is worth a lot more than a 2nd. The way cap is valued in this league is crazy, and Matheson's aav alone brings his value in the ballpark of Reilly's. They both put similar points, and both have the same terrible defense. To your logic, Huberdeau is worth more than Zibanejad because he has a better career ppg

Differential don't mean **** when you are on a bottom team playing 25min a night... it's mostly a team stat.

5M AAV for a second pair at best LD is not some kind of bargain.

Montreal fans making the weird mistake of thinking him being the 1D on the 26th best team in the league means he's a top pair guy on any other team.

He's got more points than your darling Faber (don't get me wrong - Faber >> Matheson).
