Nothing would’ve made me more happy than for Ryan Johansen 2.0, the king (NPI) of trade demands. being traded for a third time in four seasons to his fourth team.

Why would Boston have even considered that? Taking on 7 extra years of an 8.5mil cap dump, and not even getting anything to incentivize it? Yikes, that would have been a fireable offense.

Cam Talbot has a full NTC and would not have accepted a trade to a team where he would have been a backup.

Definitely wasn't rumored at all. Multiple people have said LA and Boston were working an Ullmark deal after he said no to another deal but ran out of time. But PLD wasn't apart of the deal. It's believed that Blake was calling teams to gauge their interest in PLD quietly and someone leaked it but he wasn't apart of any deals.

Substitute Rittich if that’s the case. Talbott is a backup either way. Would have also required another swap. Grz for England to make the cap work.

Either way, it didn’t happen. Maybe they revisit. Maybe they don’t. I think Boston is going to sign Lindholm and trade Ullmark for a pick.

Both teams would have needed to get rid of major players if they were to formally to do an Ullmark deal? If it was LA, who was the cap player going back to Boston?

I’d think that Sweeney would have asked Ullmark if he was open to a trade to LA before spending time on a deal. That’s the one thing that doesn’t make much sense in these rumors.

I guess there is a possibility of Arvidssen and a first round pick for Ullmark. Dont see it.

I didn't hear it ran out of time at all. My understanding from Seravelli and Friedman is that Ullmark blocked LAK from his NTC and refused to waive. I've heard from multiple BOS fans that Ullmark has most west coast teams on his NTC list.

He’s not a complete cap dump. He’s probably overpaid by 1.5m AAV if you use Troy Terry as a comp. $2M if you use Tippett or Hagel

I don’t see a distinct difference between him and Jake DeBrusk, which is why I question it … but there is some logic to it if you believe PLD can be a top 6 center. If I’m Boston, I rather sign JDB and trade Ullmark for a pick.

A couple of Kings writers that have ties to the team came out and said LA wasn't the team Ullmark nixed the deal to. My guess is that he would kill a deal to LA too. But here in LA the rumors were Blake was looking into Ullmark after he killed a deal but Blake didn't want to move anyone off LA's roster and had no cap space with Arvidsson soon to come off of LTIR

Local writers are often used for damage control. There is NO deal with Boston without major pieces going out. Both sides are cap constrained. If Blake had discussions about Ullmark, that would have been known and this just sounds like after the fact spin control.

I am curious about how deep the conversations would have been and I think LA is stuck between these decisions in the offseason

Letting go of Roy and signing Byfield to a long term contract

Vs

Singing Byfield to a bridge contract and signing Roy.

Trading PLD for no more than $5m in salaries coming back likely makes that decision go away. They could sign Roy and Byfield to a long term contract

There were rumours Boston poked around at Dubois. They did need a C real bad and Dubois and the only way it would make sense for both parties is if Boston acquired a C (could've been Danualt involved, who knows) and Kings got a goalie. Because Dubois was rumoured to Boston, my bet is that the framework was something like this. You could be right though, I just don't see who else LA would move that Boston would like right now who's a centre besides PLD

I mean, I feel like he could flourish at the same time. It's the most Boston thing, and playing with potentially Marchand and Pastrnak he'd probably find his stride
