Cece > Kulak

getting a '24 4th for either would be a steal at this point

$2.5 x 4 seems a bit steep for Amadio! And while I like DeMelo, Edmonton isn't looking to get slower on the back end so I think they'll go a different direction.

Ceci has positive value for sure, but Chicago is certainly not the team that would be looking for another RHD.

That's silly. Kulak cost Edmonton a 2nd a couple of years ago and was well worth the cost. And Ceci has more value.

Hawks obviously decline both of those trades.

If Caps didn't trade Dowd at the deadline they certainly aren't trading him for that.

only 1 Hawks trade in here...

Ceci is an NHL d man and hawks clearly like overpaying guys so they can hit the cap floor. He seems like an absolute option for them who can tehn flip him retained to a team at the deadline as a good rental piece who can play....just not a great fit with Nurse

Kulak has been very good for the Oilers....is cost controlled for teams...woudl be surprised he has no value, Oilers tight cap make him a contract to move with Broberg being blocked...On a middle road team he would have good value, on a bad team as a vet leader he would have great value.

Ceci is a good player too....being that he would be UFA at years end, he for sure is flippable retained for better assets and also helps get to cap floor for the year

The only trades I saw always had him retained...this is for his full cap hit....a 4C for 3 draft picks I think would be a trade a manager would take, I guess since we are both on the internet today, tells me we both dont know for sure

ya probably too much money...but shows the money works for a nice player there.

I am a DeMelo fan....but could be someone better, the free agent class is somewhat average so finding a Ceci replacement there might be challenging

He's only an option for the hawks if they're getting a 3rd just to take the cap hit. They can easily keep their draft pick, overpay a ufa d man and flip him retained at the deadline.

DeMelo and Pesce are the top RHD available this summer, but both are slower than Ceci. Neither improves the Oilers D mobility.

The Oilers D mobility isn't bad, but it's not elite.

The Kulak trade was also to the Hawks when I commented. That was changed to AZ apparently. As for Ceci, the Hawks have Jones and Murphy as their top 2 RD next season. Why would they pay a 3rd for one year of Ceci to play on their 3rd pair? They can spend $3m on a UFA, hang on to that pick and be no worse off.

2 years ago Kulak played better and so did Cece.

By what metric is Kulak better now and what makes both worth a 3rd or 2?

Kulak has a 56% GF% without McDavid this year. Last year he posted a 48% with McDavid off. Oh, and he always elevates his game in the playoffs. He's big and mobile, and worth a 2nd.

Ceci has a 51% GF% without McDavid this year. Last year he posted a 49% with McDavid off, 45% two years ago. And he plays harder comp than Kulak does (1st line comp). At just $3.25M, you won't find many reliable top-4 RHD for less. That's worth a 2nd easily.
