I understand the ask should be high, the caps just shouldn’t give that up. Iorio is probably going to be a middle pair RD who is defensively sound. That’s exactly what they need. Plus that flyers package is better so if there’s a deal to be made there, Ottawa should take it and run imo.

Given the state of OTT I cant see them shipping out Chychrun for a return similar to what they paid especially without an extension and only 1yr left on his contract. If there is an extension in play that's a whole nother ball game and depending on what that could look like you might be able to more than these in return.

all of these are at least one asset too high. If OTT moves on from Chychrun, they are not getting back the assets they gave up for him

Many of these teams though be stocked with LD. The goal for OTT if they looking to move should be a team who needs a LD

WSH has Sandin and Fehérváry

NYI have Pelech and Romanov

PHI is the one I could see but idk if he fits Torts system

The team that honestly makes the most sense for him is Dallas

As he would push Suter out of the lineup

Stars already have Heiskanen, Lindell, and Harley not to mention Suter who are all left shot defence. Chychrun is the last guy they need

Heiskanen has been playing to the right this season to be fair.

Harley - Heiskanen

Chychrun - Tanev? (if they extend him)

Lindell - Lundkvist

would be a good dman core for them.

Ah yes so it’s smart to go out and spend at least 1 premium asset, and likely another 1-2 good assets on something they already have?
I’m aware that Heiskanen has primarily played the right side, but he’s still a left shot defender. Which they have 4 of on their roster. Even keeping him on the right side leaves a left side of Harley, Lindell, and Suter. So you’re basically paying to upgrade Suter to Chychrun to which he only plays about 19 mins a night right now. Could easily bump Harley and Lindell up another 1-2 minutes and then you’re left with trying to cover someone for 15 mins a game - which if your bringing in Chychrun for Suter it’s not worth the extra assets for.

Dallas does not need another left handed defenceman. They need a right handed shot. Hence why the traded for one at the deadline.

Not to mention that Dallas only has about $18M in cap space in the summer to sign roughly 9 players for their active roster, and Harley is due for a significant raise. So bringing in Chychrun at $4.6M to play maybe 15-16 minutes a night is the last thing we they need. It’s smarter to give that place to a depth guy and develop him rather than waste the cap space just to make a trade.

So “lul” … sorry but you’re wrong.

DAL has so many premium assets and are trying to win. They would be fine with it. As anything be better than Suter

Chycrun is 25 and is a nice top 4 Dman who would fit well with DAL system. As shown with the pairings it works

Harley - Heiskanen

Chychrun - Tanev

Lindell - Lundkvist

Dal also has 0 need for a RD, Heiskenen has done well on the right side and now they have Tanev and Lundqvist. Kyrou is on the way to they good

Again Chycrun fits with their current goals

I wouldn't say Fehervary and Sandin is "stacked at LD", they are good players but could be upgraded and WSH fans have obviously shown some interest and think there is a fit. As for NYI, I really don't think Romanov is a bonafide top 4 D while Pelech is aging. I feel like the fit can be proven again by the many trades made by NYI fans for Chychrun. I think Dallas could be a good fit too but I'm not sure what the package would look like. I'm not really sure they have 1 really solid asset that the deal can be centered around like other teams. (the 1sts will be late and I'm not sure what young players will be available-maybe Mavrik Bourque?)

I understand Zamula is a very good player and I don't want to undervalue him but I don't see the Sens wanting another LD coming back considering even if Chychrun gets moved, they still have Chabot, Sanderson, Brannstrom, and Kleven. I personally would really want Cates and if he wasn't available, the deal would probably have to be centered around a higher pick (Philly's 2024 1st I guess). Or, Sens would love to bring Bonk home. However, I completely understand why Philly shouldn't/won't move him.
