CBJ fans will tell you they want more but its not the worst offer depending on where the Jet's pick lands. Would like to see Hughes make a move like this though

I’d say they don’t, but value is kinda close. Still maybe have to remove 2 pieces and upgrade give a more quality piece

It's Kent Johnson and you're not offering a core player.

Replace Barron with Mailloux and remove the 2nd.

I’m 99% sure Mailloux is going to be the sacrificed d. Ain’t no way they are moving Reinbacher, same for Hutson. Guhle has been here since the start + he’s a great leader and he’s already set. Doubt we move him. Xhekaj is one of a kind and is going nowhere.

Not Getting Traded = Reinbacher Hutson Guhle Xhekaj
Probably Traded = Mailloux Barron Struble Harris
Veterans = Matheson Savard Kovacevic.

And Mailloux has the most value ( by far )between these 4. + he’s a Bergevin/Timmins Guy.

Man, I'm not sure. I I honestly think Hutson might have a better shot of being traded (although I would hate that and its probably still very unlikely). But offensive D are rarely big and physical like Mailloux is. Imagine a guy that puts 50-60 and hits like a truck. I'd do everything in my power to keep our core Ds (Guhle, Mailloux, Hutson, Rein) in MTL

The difference between Johnson and Dach is that Johnson had an excellent D+2 year, very similar to the production Slafkovsky and Cooley are putting up this year. Whereas Dach never broke out at the time of trade.

Ultimately, one of these 4 is going to get traded to bring forward help. My guess is that Hughes hits back to back homeruns with young talented forwards and the rebuild is over. Like Lindstrom/Necas or Catton/Johnson or Demidov/Lundell. Bring Hutson to NA and Reinbacher likely gets a 9game trial. Bring in Marchessault ( even tho he’s small ) like Giroux with Ott.

Lindstrom - Dach - Slafkovsky
Caufield - Suzuki - Marchesaault
Roy - Newhook - Anderson
RHP - Evans - Gallagher

Matheson - Guhle
Reinbacher - Savard
Xhekaj - Hutson
Struble

In : Lindstrom Marchessault
Out : Mailloux Dvorak Harris Barron Ylonen

I'm really not trying to be rude, but Habs fans are testing my patience.

There's dozens of KJ to MTL ACGMs on here, and multiple per day. They all have some variation of "young roster player plus late 1st" for KJ, and the comments are always the same: if you're not giving us quality back, we're not moving our top forward prospect. Please reference any number of those first. Besides, he's coming off major shoulder surgery and is at least 5 months out from being able to play hockey again, teams don't trade players in that situation. He's not available.

If you insist on having a serious discussion, there's exactly 4 pieces we'd be interested from in Montreal, and I'm positive none of them are available:
Suzuki
Slafkovsky
Reinbacher
2024 MTL unprotected 1st

Don't waste your time or ours otherwise. We're looking for similar things (high-end, young forwards with elite potential), both teams are in a similar spot (promising young players, but few if any with star potential), and we have similar timelines to compete (2-3 years). We're not a match for a trade unless you're looking for a 1-for-1 quality, hockey trade swap. We're not moving a high end piece for lesser pieces.

Slafkovsky is your closest comparable to KJ, would you trade him for a similar return? No, no you wouldn't.

Please let this idea die. Please.

Slafkovsky Suzuki in KJ discussion is crazy.. y’all can dream.

Not trading our top 5 pick this year for anyone so forget that.

Same for Reinbcher, we wouldn’t do it. No way.

Mailloux WPG 1ST ( #20 maybe with the way it’s going ) at the max.

Mailloux alone probably has more value than KJ right now.

I think you proved his point. Johnson is a very good player with very high potential, as such he is a crucial part of the future core of Columbus. A sophomore slump, coaching decisions not benefitting his production and a long-term injury do not change that. If the Canadiens want a vital part of the Blue Jackets' future, they are going to have to give up an equal share of theirs.

Oh, and everyone tends to think that everyone else overvalues their core pieces and prospects.

To quote myself: "there's exactly 4 pieces we'd be interested from in Montreal, and I'm positive none of them are available". We know. Hence the entire second half of my comment. It's been rehashed so many times.

All 4 of those pieces have more value than KJ right now, but it doesn't change the fact that we're not interested in moving our top forward prospect unless we're getting an upgrade. That's the whole point.
