Habs aren't trading Newhook, And I seriously doubt that Hronek would sign long term with a rebuilding Montreal team.

I would be VERY reticient to trade Newhook. He has all the tools to be a great second liner

As much as I liked that 1st Hronek trade earlier today, I do believe we will have to reject this one. Nehwook is worth too much for this type of deal

If it was 1 year, yeah I'd more strongly consider it, but something like ~9 points in the last ~40 games...I just don't see KD looking to pay $9.25M and only get a 2nd in return.

Yeah Mikheyev wouldn't be my top choice for a bad contract add either. But he's not a total cap dump like Zaitsev or Bailey. He plays fast, is good defensively and while he is definitely a streaky scorer, when he's hot he can carry a line. I think he's also flippable if the Hawks retain on him. I know everyone wants more 1st rounders, but acquiring more 2nds isn't bad either. I'd fine w/ this if it's the best deal the Hawks can make.

Maybe drop the 1st for a 2nd and the Habs would do it

i really dont think mtl is going to pay that for an offensive dman, or any dman for that matter. They still have more coming up the pipeline and losing newhook would be a massive blow, not to mention Struble may have had a few stumbles this year but overall has been very impressive for a rookie campaign.
