You're overpaying for Necas, and NSH wouldn't be interested in Matheson.

Necas start with Maurice Richard, 25 palette of Molson Ex, the next 4 first round pick and Suzuki, Guhle and Slafkowsky. That the cost for a 60 point winger who is terrible defensively.

Josi magically gets injured for next season then Nashville maybe does this

I'd pay that price for Necas

If I feel like I'm overpaying then it's probably close to fair. Just need to find a team that would be interested in Matheson and would trade something like 3rd line affordable forward + 1st +...

I mean, it's probably something like
20th pick
25th pick
Bottom pair affordable D
3rd line forward

Don't think that's crazy for a young top-6 forward. If we go by quantity, we need to overpay somehow.

I don't think you need to include the Winnipeg first, but also if Nashville doesn't want Matheson then their 2025 1st is off the table, and neither Glass nor Harris move the needle. That would leave just the WPG first which by itself isn't enough, and also isn't really the right piece Carolina is looking for in a Necas trade.

Personally i would acquire him, i don’t like the players. But in term of value, i don’t see him getting more then a mid 20’s pick and a b prospect. Especially with the fact he will ask for a significant raise.

Issue is, Canes have no interest in this package. Carolina's issue is scoring. Why would they then dump a 60-70 point producer for futures? To get Necas, there's going to need to be a top six piece coming back. I like Glass, he ain't that.

That is so disingenuous... no the Hurricanes are saying that he's worth a young top-6 forward in return. He's been better defensively this year... there is nobody on the Hurricanes who's truly awful in his own zone

Necas is, despite having one of the highest offensive zone start rate around the league on one of the best goal differential team in the league. He still managed to be a minus players. He isn’t worth a young top 6 players at all. Necas is a bonified average middle 6 winger.

Nashville has as little interest in Matheson as Carolina would have. They already have Josi and McDonagh ahead on the depth charts, so they aren’t going to pay a premium for a LHD that would slot in on the 3rd pair. And without the Nashville portion of the trade, there isn’t a chance for Necas to be moved in this proposal.

Necas almost hit 30 goals last season and is gonna hit 25 this year... that isn't a middle-six 6 winger. Referencing +/- in the year of lord 2024 is a bold tactic. Of course he has a high offensive zone start rate... All Hurricanes forwards have a pretty high one except for the Staal line. He has the second-highest amount of goals at 5v5 for the Hurricanes

Necas is 94th in overall scoring, 105th ppg average. He have comparable number to the average middle 6 winger. Guy like Drouin, Toffoli, Moore, Coyle, Zacha, Tarasenko, Bjorkstrand, Monahan are all comparable. Necas 71 points was a anomaly last season due to injury he benefited from more first unit pp. he definitely not a top tier forward not even a top 70 forward in the league so that by definition rank him as a middle six forward.

Since when are guys who put up 27-28 goals (adjusted for 82 games) a season not considered a top-6 forward?
He's probably in the 80-90 range which is still a top-6 forward.

Like i said earlier he is a bonified middle 6 forward. Nothing that justified the ask of a young top 6 forward.

Nashville isnt interested in Matheson. He isnt much much younger than Josi so it doesnt do us any good in the long term and we already have an expensive LHD group. Maybe if he was closer to 26 instead of 30 it would make more sense to as setting up a successor but when Josi ages out Matheson is going to be old as far as hockey goes too. So it makes no sense for Nashville
