Make Buffalo Great

Description
Non Buffalo fan coming in to make them great. I do not have soft spots for the prospects they all want to hold in their arms and never let go. So lets do deals.

1) As a Flyers fan, I do see us being good trading partners. TK adds grit to the top of the lineup. Flyers need a good C prospect. Yes, Flyers move up in draft but Buffalo still retains a late 1st.

2) Gotta shed that Skinner contract. EDM subtracts Campbell and Ceci and swaps for a 2nd line winger. Buffalo then deals some capital to get rid of Campbell's contract while keeping Ceci for 3rd line duties.

3) Samuellsson for Lowry and 3rd - Buffalo needs a good defensive center on their bottom 6. I moved up Ostlund for 3C because hes a great two ways player that will grind grind grind.

4) Sign veteran Kulikov for backend leadership and eat some minutes.

5) Make a huge signing in Jake Guentzel. Even with the signing, you got 6.6M in cap space to fill out rest of roster. That top line is scary as hell. Second line has great potential. Kid line is speedy.

Edmonton declines, would rather dump Campbell and Ceci on their own else where. Having almost 19 million tied up between Nurse and Skinner is a terrible idea

I'd gladly make a trade for Samuelsson but it certainly won't be for the Captain. Lowry is the glue that holds that team together and has been an exceptional Captain in his first year with the "C".

No from Winnipeg. There's no chance they move Lowry.

I call it a win if I can get 4 comments deep without someone being visibly upset.

Joke

You

As far as the moves, they’re fine, other teams would probably dislike them more. Can’t see JG taking a fair/mild under payment to play in Buffalo tbh. No to Kulikov, was already a suck player here once. Just play Johnson in that spot. And Peterka on the fourth line is… well, interesting

It feels like Buffalo is soon at an inflection point where players are ready for the role they are suppose to be in and there are no spots (ie Savoie, Peterka, Kulich, Ostlund...)

Ostlund shot slot into 3C long term, a void recently left by Mitts. Peterka is a top 6 winger, along with Quinn Tuch and one of the prospects (assuming they can move on from Skinner, which isn’t likely). Kulich Benson should be middle sixers, leaving a middle six spot available. Greenway shows flashes but no one will be sad when he’s gone. Getting a TK should be the priority, but those guys are rarely moved. After that it’s fight for your spot, that should be the top 9.

Kulikov was terrible the first time he was here. Not only would he never come back, we don’t want him. I like Lowry, but he does have a no trade clause that could get in the way, and Winnipeg loves him and probably will never let him go. Not sure Kulich is who Philly wants considering they have Mitchkov waiting in the wings, but Konecny is the type of player you have to get back if you’re giving him up. I think if you’re going to trade Samuelsson, you need to try to get the next Chris Drury back in return. There aren’t many guys built like that, And the teams that have them aren’t in a hurry to lose them.

Probably need a playmaking C to pair with Michkov. If you think Savoie is that guy, I'll certainly take him over Kulich.

the only real issue here is skinner isnt waiving to go anywhere other than Toronto (maybe ottawa). Otherwise this is probably fine, though i doubt TK and Guentzel sign in buffalo.

No chance Hawks do this deal. First they don't need retention. Just doesn't move the need or lower the price. My guess is you are gonna have to replace at least 1 of those 2nd/3rd round picks with a high end prospect. Forward or RHD. No LHD.

It is more likely Edmonton buys out Campbell.

I don't hate the Skinner trade (I don't want Campbell's buyout on the books for the next 6 years) but I just don't see where the money is coming from to accommodate Skinner's contract. Campbell is "only" costing $3.85M on the cap and Ceci is $3.25M - that's $7.1M vs Skinner's $9M. And it leaves them short a top-4 RHD... with more LW's than they need.

I just don't see a fit.

TK ain't signing 5*7M, rather something like 8*8,5-9M. It's his time to make the career contract.
