laugh Stamkos isn't a 1C anymore, And $7,000,000 in Florida is worth more than $10,000,000 in high tax California. No freaking way is Stamkos playing on the West Coast on the worst team in the NHL.

He doesn’t need to be a cup winning 1C to a team that needs a leader and mentor. San Jose is paying him to be himself, like Tavares and TOR.

Yeah and there was no freaking way Detroit was gonna miss the playoffs with BUF and OTT yet… the improbable often proves to be possible.

Dude Stamkos isn't making it to UFA. After the season he and Brisebois sit down and he signs in TB. On a 4-5 year deal @ a lower AAV ensuring he retires the first career long Bolt.

I hope he does stay in TB. If he takes like a 5 x 5 that would be amazing for TB.
He should be a career Bolt, and enter the HOF under 1 jersey.

Doesn’t mean you can’t hope for new journey.

Stamkos isn't leaving TB for San Jose, It's not even worth discussing. You could offer Stamkos the moon and he's still not leaving no tax Florida for high tax Califonia it's not even reality.

lol yeah I didn’t care to check till you said this but according to Forbes taxes calculator 10m cal vs 7m Florida =
5.047 California to 4.4m Florida

That would mean 2 years in San Jose at 10m would be equivalent to 3 years in Florida at the suggestion. Still a hard sell for SJS but most people also accept that these millionaire athletes who are smart hire professionals to help get the most back from their taxes so it could be possibly be improved in either state.

1. Changed it for you dude
2. There was no chance Boston would blow 3-1 to the eight seed but like I said above, the improbable is often possible.

Simplified
20 m x 2 years in SJS

without any professional tax help (that many smart athletes would definitely utilize)

Would probably nearly be 11m

Which would be just equal to 5m x 3 years in Florida.
Or less than 7m x 3 years

So San Jose needs to start in the 9.5 - 10.5 area to compete with anything the state of Florida offers. If Florida

Don’t worry the Canadian teams have the same uphill battle.
California isn’t alone (with other States / Canada) in wanting some form of fix to the contract tax issues (likely never gets fixed, it’s the way it is).

Not lashing out at all just saying nothing is impossible.

Saying player xyz signing is xyz impossible is like saying it’s impossible one could be worse than the expansion San Jose Sharks teams or other historically bad teams, yet it’s 2023/24 and the Sharks themselves are worse.

Nothing is impossible in sports.

California state tax is 7.25% idiot. So the tax makes it 7M vs 9.25M before federal taxes which are not state dependent. Cost of Living will likely be more impactful than the taxes. You can be smart about it, though, especially since Stamkos is already wealthy. The bad team aspect, especially choosing more money over staying with the Lightning aspect, is why this idea is just as dumb as your tax take.
